Nan’s bread pan back in full use! I never knew this enamel pan existed until just 2 months ago when my aunt sent it to me from Labrador. She told me that if anyone should have it it should be me. Swell my heart she did. She also sent an treasure trove of community recipe books from Labrador. I’ll spend months going through them tagging recipes and reading stories. Time well spent! God love the crowd @thenewfoundlanddistilleryco and @maggiet1 Bit early in the morning for a gin but I was feeding my ginger soda syrup and thought I would share. Stop buying that expensive ginger soda this year and make an awesome change. Try this fermentation and make the best gingerale drinks this Xmas. All you need is a jar with a lid, a piece of ginger, a fine grater and some sugar. Grate 1 tablespoon of ginger into your jar, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and about 1/4 cup o...f water. Stir. Put the cover on and place inside dark cupboard until you make coffee the next morning. While you are waiting for your brew to brew, repeat the steps above. Do this every morning until your jar is full. It should be bubbling by the end of the week. Strain the liquid and put it in a bottle. This is your ginger syrup. Add a few tablespoons to your drink of choice with some carbonated water (get yourself a soda stream too!) and enjoy. Save your self a bundle and stop having to recycle all those bottles and cans.
