Ben Turner is a Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic who started an apprenticeship at the age of 15 working with world renowned equipment at Komatsu New Zealand. With Komatsu New Zealand, Ben specialized in underground and open cast mining equipment which involved major component overhauling, preventative maintenance, and servicing schedules. From 2008 to 2011, Ben worked as a Heavy Plant Technician with Komatsu to receive a Level 4 apprenticeship with MITO New Zealand. From 2011 to... 2012, Ben worked for Rooney Earthmoving Ltd. in Timaru, New Zealand. He was a Field Service Mechanic in sole charge of working on a full range of heavy earth moving equipment, agricultural tractors and implements. In December 2012, Ben was given the oppurtuniy to work for Northridge contracting in Norman Wells, NWT. Northridge is a Northern Canada based contracting company that specializes in winter ice road and tundra road construction as well as oilfield and heavy construction, water and sewer services, and heavy equipment rental. Ben was the lead mechanic on the 2012 and 2013 winter road building contracts for major oil companies such as Huskey, Shell and MGM Exploration Drilling. Ben was maintaing up to 50 pieces of equipment at a time. In 2014 Ben was promoted to shop foreman, this roll involved maintaining frequent work schedules of various types of specialized equipment, responding to breakdowns in harsh and remote locations as well as ensuring safe work procedures are correctly followed. He has been a devoted, enthusiastic, and passionate employee of Northridge Contacting from 2014 until January 2017.
