Codiac Storm Lacrosse 07.10.2020

Codiac Storm Lacrosse has some exciting news for the upcoming 2020 lacrosse season. There are three changes this year; 1. Renaming of Divisions as per LNB and CLA guidelines 2. Change to season continuing on to mid-August in all age division with addition of Summer Field Sessions 3. Mini-Tykes and Tykes will now be practicing/playing on same Pad/location as U10, U12, and U14... With registration opening just around the corner and the season starting shortly after that, we are happy to announce that we will be giving players and their families more lacrosse for their dollar. As with previous years, this season will begin approximately mid-April with players enjoying the usual practices and games in the rink until approximately the 3rd week of June, then players will have the exciting opportunity to head out onto the field and gain some field lacrosse experience in the fresh air until approximately mid August, without an added expense/registration fee. As with our Box sessions, we expect players will have two field times per week. This year's added field portion of our season will give our players 6 extra field practices and 6 extra field games for the same affordable price. Age divisions and fees $75 U6 2014-2015 (previously Mini Tyke) $75 U8 2012-2013 (previously Tyke) $100 U10 2010-2011 (previously Novice) $150 U12 2008-2009 (previously PeeWee) $150 U14 2006-2007 (previously Bantam) Here is the registration link for the 2020 Codiac Storm Lacrosse Season https://site2803.goalline.ca/register.php?reg_form_id=35062 Here are answers to a couple of questions that we expect you might have with changes this year; Does my child have to take part in both Box and Field sessions this year? No, if there are other sports that your child will be playing or they will not be available for Box or Summer sessions, they can opt out of either, we just ask that you let us know when they will not be able to attend so we can let Coaches know. Is there a difference in the price if my child will only attend either Box or Field sessions? No, we have worked with the City of Moncton to keep the costs of fields as low as possible, so the registration cost will be the same for Box only, Field only, or both Box and Field sessions. Is there a different registration for Box and Field seasons? No, there is one registration that you will use to register your child for the season. Is there still a High School Field Lacrosse program? Yes, the High School Field Lacrosse program that has run for the past several seasons will be a separate registration as it has been in the past for those players that are attending High School and want to take part in this program. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out via our Facebook page, private message or by email [email protected].

We are so pleased to see the interest in a September Box Lacrosse and that program is now FULL. Thanks to all that have registered. Sadly, we were unable to offer to the younger age division, but fingers are crossed that we will be able to have a normal lacrosse season in the spring 2021 It was great to see the kids back out on the rink for their first session, doing what they love, with some really amazing coaches!

Summer Lacrosse players, don't forget to keep hydrated! That includes drinking lots of water for all of today, long BEFORE heading to the field. It's hot and muggy, so that extra fluid ahead of time will help you tonight as well. Make sure to bring your water bottle to the field too :)

***Good afternoon Codiac Storm family*** As previously stated, we are still running on a month to month basis in terms of the future of our 2020 box & field lacrosse season. According to the plan set out by the Minister of Health, Dr Russell, NB is on a path to loosening the provincial restrictions slowly and with precautions over the coming months. The cautious plan shows organized sports as one of the last restrictions to be lifted. Our treasurer has completed the last of... the registration refunds and we will keep everyone up to date on any news/decisions made regarding the possibility of a salvaged 2020 box and/or field lacrosse season. In the meantime, keep those lacrosse sticks in hand and we will look forward to getting back out together as soon as is safely possible.

Attention 2020 Codiac Lacrosse participants.... We are working on a month to month basis and we are following the directives from LNB in regards to possible start time. As it stands now, there will be no lacrosse until at least the end of April. We are hoping that we may be able to salvage some of a season, whether in the box portion or into the field portion of the season. We are doing refunds now and asking parents to be patient as we work with our payment provider to ...get them processed. You will receive an email stating that you have been refunded once that occurs. They are likely being overwhelmed with organizations like us who have had to cancel Spring and Summer sports programs and issue refunds to players. Once we have the all clear from LNB, we will re-assess our program and open up registration again for players. We thank our Codiac Storm family for your patience during this unprecedented time and ask that you stay home and stay safe! See more

At this time, it is the CLA’s recommendation that all lacrosse activities be suspended in Canada until the end of April. These are unprecedented times. The COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving around the world and within Canada. The safety of lacrosse players, coaches, officials, volunteers, parents, fans and everyone in the lacrosse community are the CLA’s top priority. The CLA’s semi-annual meeting, scheduled for May in PEI, is being moved online. Those who would be attending the semi-annual meeting will receive an updated schedule in the coming weeks. National championships are at the heart of lacrosse in Canada and many players look forward to these competitions every year.
