The Church of God Sabbath-Keeping 24.11.2020

Hello everyone! Due to new restrictions announced by the province and the City of Toronto, which take effect today (November 14, 2020), we will PAUSE on hosting in-person worship services at our Rexdale location. Please do not attend in-person until further notice. This protocol will be in place for the next 28 days and we will post updates as they become available. We understand and support that attending church is a meaningful and sacred activity for many. However, in orde...r to keep our communities safe, we are working collaboratively with our local and provincial government and ask that you all do the same. Please continue to pray for God to guide our leaders as they navigate this pandemic. In the interim, we welcome you all to join us online for our livestream services via our YouTube channel, starting at 10:30am every Saturday. Thank you and God bless! https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCjVUWLpGEhZDhYClDIF7Vpw

10:30 AM SABBATH SCHOOL - Son of God | Pastor Mark Hibbert Main Text - Matthew 16:13-17... A common question asked is How can God have a son? Can a God have a child? If we would be honest, this is the major concern for most people. Many doctrines attempt to explain how this can be possible, especially because Christianity is a monotheistic religion. While we may not fully comprehend the concept of God having a son, we can gain a fruitful understanding of the essence shared between God and Christ. Stay tuned; this lesson will be an interesting one. 12:30 PM MAIN SERVICE Self Talk | Minister Matt-Trill Chambers You may have conversations about what you are experiencing with others, but what's more important is the conversation you are having with yourself! We held our 4th Annual Turkey Giveaway today and we’re so thankful to God for its continued success. Thanksgiving is a time to share with friends and family but, let’s not forget those who are in need. We were able to provide whole turkeys along with non-perishable food items to the wonderful people of our Rexdale community. Thanks to all of the sponsors, volunteers, and organizers who made this possible. Special shoutout to @city_tv news for coming by to capture it all. #cogsk #turkeygiveaway #thanksgiving2020 #communityoutreach #citytvnews

10:30 AM SABBATH SCHOOL - His Faithfulness | Teacher Ricardo Rose Main Scripture - Psalm 89:1-8... In today’s lesson, we will be discussing God’s faithfulness. It is one of His most famous attributes; throughout the entirety of the Bible, we clearly see that He always does exactly what He says He will do. The Prophet Jeremiah said, The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is [His] faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23). The Apostle Paul declared, If we are faithless, He remains faithful for He cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:13). The faithfulness of God is His trustworthiness and commitment to keep His promises to His people. Among many things, He said He will sanctify us completely and keep us blameless until the coming of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23) Furthermore, He has promised that after we have suffered, He will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us as well as guard us against the evil one. (1 Peter 5:10; 2 Thessalonians 3:3) God has and always will be faithful to His Word and His people through the promises and covenants He established and since we belong to Him through Christ, He will never forget, neglect, or abandon us. 12:30 PM MAIN SERVICE Pride | Pastor Howard Green Today’s sermon is the second in a series of 3 sermons. Last week’s entitled discouraged dealt with the idea that Satan uses discouragement to keep people from serving their creator; leading to ultimate destruction. The second way that Satan defeats people and prevent them from serving the Lord is through human pride. Satan creates confusion in the human mind and allows us to reject our true origins and reject our obligation to serve our maker. Today we will expose the power of human pride and share clear actions that we can take to overcome human pride and life a fulfilling life. Thank you for your generosity! 10:30 AM SABBATH SCHOOL - His Righteousness | Teacher Ricardo Rose Main Scripture - Jeremiah 33:14-16 In today’s lesson, we will examine God’s righteousness, one of His most prominent and elusive attributes mentioned in the Scriptures. Righteousness is generally understood to mean behavior that is morally justifiable or right. Such behavior is characterized by morality, justice, virtue, and honor. Biblically, it is rich in meaning because righteousness embraces all that is ou...r loving Father is. Psalm 11:7 declares that the Lord is righteous and that He loves righteousness. Psalm 119:172 declares that All [His] commandments are righteousness. Psalm 9:8 declares that He shall judge the world in righteousness, and He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness. Finally, Psalm 97:2 declares that righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. God is perfect in every attribute, every attitude, every behavior, and every word. Thus, God’s laws, as given in the Bible, both describe His own character and constitute the plumb line by which He measures human righteousness. 12:30 PM MAIN SERVICE Discouraged | Pastor Howard Green Main Scripture - Numbers 32: 6-12 This sermon series is developed to expose the channels and methods that impact people to make negative choses. 10:30 AM SABBATH SCHOOL - His Redemption | Pastor Mark Hibbert There are many stories of redemption both in the past and present, but there's one story that trumps all. There was one who was sent to pay the ultimate ransom for the freedom of humanity. Jesus Christ freely laid down His life and our debt was paid in full. In today's lesson, we will explore the value of Christ's death and determine what it means to us today... 12:30 PM MAIN SERVICE The Good News of Christ Crucified | Teacher Ricardo Rose Most professing Christians would, and should, easily confess that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary. What many do not necessarily understand, however, is how incredibly significant and foundational His death is for the gospel message. In fact, without the cross, the Christian doesn’t have any good news to share. Therefore, to truly appreciate the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we must understand how His death on the cross destroys the wisdom of the world; examine why He died; and uncover what His death means for the Christian believer today. 10:30 AM SABBATH SCHOOL - His Covenant | Pastor Mark Hibbert 12:30 PM MAIN SERVICE... It's A Test | Evangelist Devon Byfield This Sermon is intended to remind us that Peter was warn yet he fail the test. However, he did not stay in the valley of failure he rose to the mountain top Therefore the same applies to us, not to remain in the valley. But arise and climb the mountain of faith, finish the course and receive your crown. Jesus warns Peter of failing the test. Peter replies, I am ready to go with him both to prison and to death. Was Peter full of pride, or was he sincere? Perhaps, he thought his faith was stronger than the rest. During our life, we all enter into the valley of failure, but we don’t have to build a home there. Should we stay there, indulging in a pity party or should we shake ourselves free and head for the mountains? From whence cometh our strength? Peter did not stay in the valley but fulfilled Jesus’ request to feed his sheep, so can you and I. Maybe Peter felt that Jesus didn’t believe in him, maybe Peter felt like Jesus did not trust his words, or maybe Peter thought Jesus was making a point that Peter often says things he doesn’t mean. We can’t know exactly what Peter was feeling but the scriptures tell us that peter was hurt and said (paraphrasing) Lord, you don’t need me to tell you, you know all things, you know I love you; if you knew I would deny you then you must know I love you. We don’t have to stay in the valley of failure but we can climb the mountain of faith according to Paul. Thank you for your generosity!
