This is a video of Mrs. Jennifer Hawkins' class from Michigan, and their project in learning an adaptation of Jackson's choreographing, and flashmobbing for their school community (keep in mind this was in 2019, pre-covid).... As we transition back to 'normal' school life following the pandemic, I have two challenges for us as educators, and as community members: 1) Can we ensure that these programs continue, so that the joy from this work can continue to influence future generations and, 2) Can we give the same level of recognition to dance education occurring outside of the classroom, and ensure kids also receive credit for that work.
