Happy Thursday! You all know what that means...it’s Chase the Ace day! Tonight’s starting jackpot is $15,202.70!!!! Tickets are $3 each and available at the door (which open at 7pm), from any member or by commenting below. The draw will take place at approximately 8:15pm. We thank you again, for your continued support of this fundraiser!!!

The training session on Tuesday evening consisted of Project Lifesaver and fire starting! We had a friendly fire starting competition. Each team had to start their fire quickly with no lighters or matches and the team that burnt the string at the the top first, won!

We had another great night training. Our searcher course was in full swing teaching our members what to do should they encounter someone with hypothermia. A few lucky volunteers were wrapped up nice and tight in a super cold night. They even got to try out the mule! If this looks like something you would be interested in learning more about, we encourage you to join us!

This is one heck of a prize folks!

It’s training night tonight! A reminder to all that masks are required when inside the base building, as well as inside the trailers and any transport vehicles. Our people are our greatest asset and keeping you all safe is our number one priority. We will see you at 7pm at the base on Ventura Drive. Some fun was had last night by our members. Compass and GPS training at it’s finest. Rumour has it we had some sticky issues with the swamp and a deer skull was found. Never a dull moment with this group.

We need to learn to take photos, especially when we’re having fun! Our new members got to join the rest of the team last night for a combined GPS exercise in the dark. We learned how to plot waypoints and travel between them. There was a bit of stumbling around in the dark and laughter had by all! If you think that this looks fun to you, we would love to have you come and join us!

Reminder of the emergency meeting tonight at 7pm at the Base to discuss the current water situation. All team members along with the Building Committee members are asked to attend. We encourage maximum attendance.

It’s Tuesday night and that means it’s Training Night. A reminder for those who are able, we will be meeting at 6pm to do a cleanup of the search vehicles and trailers utilized in the recent search activities. Immediately following will be a debrief of the search and then we will be moving right into the planned training activities. New members are welcome to join us. It’s a jam packed night! The search at Rainbow Haven continued through the evening and is still an active search site. Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia continue to have the area blocked off to allow trained searchers to continue efforts. We appreciate your understanding. #GSAR
