With the help of my extraordinary beekeeping team; Jacob and Andrew, we managed to complete our regular rounds of the bee yards today. Inspecting over 120 hives, adding honey supers where needed, removing spent FormicPro strips as well as cutting the grass around the hives in five yards. Job well done boys!

A great day in the bee yards today! The bees were bringing in Maple pollen and some Coltsfoot pollen. So far, I’ve been through half the hives and winter losses are below 10%. Feeding the lighter hives now.

Our honeybees are all cozy in their hives. Wrapped up safe and warm on this -18C morning. Signs of life: - Cleared entrances - Housecleaned bees... - Icicles or Frost from heat and moisture near top entrances. And, extra-colonial life: - Field mouse tracks in the snow. Looking good!

A year ago, today. Feed went on later last year. We’re out in the bee yards this morning, checking weights and collecting or refilling feeders. The hives are heavy and ready for winter.
