At Why Not Youth Centre, we believe that every young person is important and deserves all the help they can get to overcome their challenges and meet their goals. Every teen who comes through our door is struggling in some way, be it with homelessness, mobility, bullying, or unsafe living conditions. The Coldest Night of the Year is FIVE days away! Really, it’s more than a fundraiser. It’s people in our community people like you who choose to spend a winter’s evening out in the cold rather than in the comfort of your home. Why? To identify with the lived struggle of those experiencing homelessness. Our staff, volunteers, and valued members of the Why Not community will walk the streets of Brantford on February 22. We will feel the sting of the cold winter’s air. We wi...ll wiggle cold toes inside our boots. We will stamp cold legs as we turn the corner. And ultimately, we will end our evening in our warm homes, having gained some important perspective. Because for Brantford’s homeless, a night of walking cold winter streets does not end in the warmth of a heated building they call home. Having participated in this walk, we raise awareness and empathy for our city’s most vulnerable residents. Our homeless. At Why Not, we walk because we care.
