The City of Cold Lake will be spending just under $1 million on a new fire truck and radio communications system, according to a Dec. 21 news release. About $710,000 will go towards purchasing a triple-combination pumper fire engine, which will replace a 2005 vehicle that has come to the end of its service life. The Alberta government announced new COVID restrictions tonight. Masks are now mandatory province-wide effective immediately. All social gatherings, even if they are outside, are banned.... As of Dec. 13: Restaurants and bars are to close indoor dining. Casinos, bingos, libraries, gyms and other entertainment and recreation facilities are to close. Hair dressers and other personal services also must close. Restrictions will be in place for at least four weeks. A storm water pond in Cold Lake South was green lit after the provincial government helped the city cut years’ worth of red tape. The Fischer Storm Water Management Pond has been a project on Cold Lake’s to do list for over 17 years. The Cold Lake Energy Centre Wellness Centre was closed Monday for a deep cleaning after staff there learned a patron tested positive for COVID-19.
