Hahahah Must admit they do look kinda cute now looking back .. I have something to say about this I always had something to say about this even back in the 60's when I was about 17. Eventually in the 70's I took a hairdressing course. Today I am still a hairdresser . Back then my mom was a hairdresser.She was unique as she had taken her hairdressing course in the 1930's or earlier It was before the trend of backcombing hair into looking like a football helmet on one's head .... She did pretty soft nice hairstyles. She used scissors to cut when others were using raisers. By the time we were of age mom had semi retired and was working from home . Occasionally we had a special occasion so we would bite [ go along to get along] and I can remember my sis and I cringing as they made our hair so hard and fake looking. I felt like hiding all the way home If I could have gone through alleys I would have . Mortified to be seen looking sooo phoney till I got home and then pulled it all out and brushed it. Must say the body it had when brushed down was fun. I never ever wanted to be that kind of hairdresser and never was. Thinking back of those years I also recall that the clothing stores seemed to have only conservative old lady styles. So we had a seamstress making our custom designs. I would look for patterns sometimes combining more than one and have madame Blais design me really cool styes when cool styles were hard to find in our little town in Northern Ontario ..
