LOOKING BACK: National Grocers was located on the north side of First Street at Pine Street, between the street and shipyards, where the LCBO is today. Wouldn't it have been nice if we had kept the old building? Smart Brothers was located next door.
Then and Now: Another look at First and Maple Street ...
Looking Back - 1938 - playing ball in a field where Loblaw's is now located close to First and Hurontario Streets. These people would be standing where the checkouts are now! The tall building in the background is where Sol Kitchen is presently located.
I found this photo in a box but unfortunately there wasn't any information to go along with it. The class shot (probably from the late 1920's) at the old Victoria School was taken looking south with the intersection of 6th Street and Maple Street in the background.
