The other day a new adult patient was surprised I adjusted children and inquired why children would need chiropractic care. I told her, Injuries and misalignments to the spine can start from birth. Making sure the spine has good mobility and alignment with regular spinal check-ups and chiropractic care, can help kid’s nervous systems work better and therefore their bodies will work better. The body becomes stronger and more resilient. Regular chiropractic care for kids is a proactive approach rather than a traditional reactive approach you would find in modern medicine. This is why I adjust my kids and why other parents bring their kids to a chiropractor.

Dear Patients and Families, Hugs and/or handshakes. I hope everyone is trying to stay healthy mentally and physically.... I've personally had a bit of a struggle with all of this COVID stuff this week. I just want it to end already! ARGHH! This week I have a guest blogger Kat Vernelli sharing her knowledge about how to stay strong and resilient during the COVID pandemic. Kat is a certified Holistic Nutritionist and has been part of our team for four years now. She acts as a professional guide and coach for patient's who are wishing to improve their eating habits. Dear Patients and families, Hugs. Who is feeling antsy, locked up, and on the edge of going insane right now? I see eager students out there shooting there hands up in the air! Maybe not the introverts though hey?... This feeling of pent-up energy is a normal feeling during these times and it’s your bodies queue telling you to start moving. Human beings are wired to move. Movement keeps your spine and nervous system healthy. It builds up muscle, keeps your heart healthy, and builds up overall resilience in your mind and body. And resilience and toughness is what you need to keep safe and healthy. Fear doesn’t help. I have wrote about the importance of movement in numerous articles on my website if you want to dive deeper into this subject matter. On the flip side, sitting for prolonged periods of time whether you are working from home right now or in the office is detrimental to your spine, nervous system and overall health. Furthermore, after you’re done your work for the day, I have strong suspicions that many of you are sitting watching streaming TV shows and movies. There’s those hands shooting up in the air again! My hand shot up as well by the way. Boy, that Tiger King documentary is crazy Now that it’s getting nicer outside this week it’s going to become easier to implement movement into your daily routine. Here are some suggestions: * yoga * going for a walk outsideeven around the block * go for a run * maybe you have a home gym or stationary bike that’s collecting dust * soon you can start doing spring clean up in the yard * prune trees and shrubs * organize the garage or basement * bike ride * build a raised garden * paint a room * start a home renovation if you have the money * dance If necessary, make sure you have a reminder set up somewhere so you remember to do this. One of the reminders my wife put up on the fridge was How am I moving my body today? I hoped that helped some of you. Dear Patients and families, Many of you are going through tremendous stress, worry, and uncertainty right now. On Saturday morning my wife and I began to plan how we can navigate financially through this current crisis. We went through the arduous work of going through our current expenses. We made notes on expenses and debt payments we could lower. My brain was fried from totalling numbers and looking at my computer screen for hours. I wasn’t in a happy state of mind. T...hat’s when my Mom called me. My Mom was touching base to see how I was. I certainly didn’t lie and say I was fine or good. Of course we talked about the virus, my business, the economy, the general state of people, their health and what they were doing, and the kids and Lisa. She talked about how we will get through this challenge, but I wasn’t in the mood to hear that cliche. I asked her to share some of her stories of despair, courage, and triumph instead. She shared a few stories which helped reset my mind a little. After a few hours, and I’m sure after deep thought, my Mom texted me with some more stories. And that’s when I got one of those Aha! moments. I hope her powerful stories give you and your family hope and courage to work through this crisis and come out on the other side okay. Hi Dean. In reference to our conversation this morning here is more family history. You have a strong, determined lineage to pattern. Gramma somehow managed to raise, support and educate 6 children when she was widowed at age 44. Alcoholism propelled your Dad into an adult role at age 8 when running the farm became his and his Mom’s responsibility. When he left home at age 15 he did so with no money, no education and no support. My first encounter with a cancer diagnosis left me wondering if I would see my 11/2 and 31/2 year old boys grow up. All of these challenges and those since have reminded me that we gain courage because of them. Don’t feel alone, lost or afraid. You and Lisa have the tools and skills in your arsenal.
