For immediate release: Due to changes that have occurred over the Summer, I (Brent) will not be offering private lessons in the Fall. It was a pleasure teaching over the Spring and someday will return, but there are some projects I need to focus on over the Fall that wont allow me to commit to a full teaching schedule in September. If you are interested in continuing or starting guitar or piano lessons, please contact Jamieson’s Music Studio, as Katie will be lining up teach...ers for the Fall. The silver lining is that one of the projects I will be working on is the creation of a music instructional book, aimed at taking the independent practical method used in private lessons and putting it in the hands of people near and far. On the weekend of May 11-13 St. FX and 4H are partnering in a leadership weekend, open to high school students. The whole weekend is awesome with lots of sessions that kids can take part in - all surrounding the theme 'Communication'. As part of this, I will be hosting a session Saturday May 12 focusing on ways we communicate in music! We will talk about songwriting, improvisation and emotion in music. It will be a lot of fun with lots of participation (anyone who plays an in...strument or sings is encouraged to come, regardless of level)! I have some news: In an attempt to become more visible and accessible as both an educator (Collins Music Education) and as a performer/musician (Brent Collins - Music Page), I have set up some cool things to give you deeper access, where Facebook can be very busy and overwhelming. First is my new blog page : www.MusicandMusings.blog Here I will be posting thoughts, reviews of albums/shows, posting videos and updates...everything in one place. New posts will be linked to my Facebook Pages if you're already there! (There is an app you can download!!) How many people would be interested in a group songwriting course over the summer or fall? Would be open to adults/teens who are musicians looking to get insight on writing songs.
