How to kick off your Halloween weekend? Women Who Wander have something for you. The Haunted Hike will be held in the Lake Lillian-Johnson trails area this Friday, Oct. 30. There will be a family-friendly (i.e. not so super spooky) hike, followed by one targeted at adults that is, as Kay puts it, full scare. The family-friendly hike will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The adults hike is from 7:30 p.m. onwards. Everybody who wishes to go must register beforehand. To do so, visit the Women Who Wander website at www.womenwhowander.club, then go to the site’s events calendar. Alternately, register for the event by searching for it on eventbrite.ca.
RK Heliski’s season gets underway Dec. 26 and will go as long into the Spring as conditions allow.

Happy Birthday to Louis Riel! Riel was recognized as the father of Manitoba and is currently acknowledged to be a founding father of Confederation in Canada. In... addition to advocating for Métis rights, Riel also fought for greater religious freedom, French language rights, First Nations rights, and greater gender equality throughout the Northwest. Riel died as a staunch advocate for the Métis and as a defender of minority rights in general. See more
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic may have altered the nature of this year’s provincial election campaign, but Columbia Valley residents still got a chance to see the three Columbia River-Revelstoke candidates square off against each other, if only digitally, during a live online candidate’s forum.
There are only a few days left until Election Day. The Pioneer asked three questions to our candidates. You can find them on our new website!
