We, along with our race partners, have decided to cancel the 2021 Nipika Toby Creek Nordic Loppet Weekend and Cross River Ripper Fat Bike event. It was a tough ...decision to make but the best one to keep potential racers, participants, families, volunteers, and staff safe. It would have been the 17th annual Loppet and fourth Ripper. The Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club, Columbia Cycle & Ski, and we at Nipika are hopeful we will be able to host these races again in 2022. Hope to see you out here for a ski or fat bike this winter! Our trails are always open.

A few days ago, local stakeholders met with representatives from FLNRORD to discuss the Columbia Valley Wildlife Management Area, closure of Power Wagon, and ma...nagement objectives for Deja View. Lots of great discussions were had, and everyone left with a better understanding of the importance of both the environmental and recreational value of this area. Clarity was provided on the rationale behind the closure, and also about some miscommunications regarding the status of Deja View which resulted in it being incorrectly signed as closed to cyclists. At this time, Deja View is remaining open to all non-motorized users! FLNRORD is currently in the midst of internal discussions to determine next steps in the area, but rest assured, they have received the feedback from the cycling community, and are hearing our voices loud and clear. We have to thank every single passionate rider who shared their stories about why this area is important to them. That feedback was more important than you know, and will go a long way in helping determine this area’s future. Now, this doesn’t mean that Deja View is now a sanctioned trail - it isn’t. But, we are continuing to push to have this trail properly managed and protected in the future. As for the rest of the trails in the area that have been closed and deactivated - they were closed with clear environmental reasoning, and were appropriately closed for all user groups, so we need to request that our members and the cycling community as a whole respect the closure. One again - thank you everyone, I think it’s clear that the outcome would have been different without you. - - #cvcs #mtb #mtbbc #dejaview #radium #columbiavalley : Columbia Valley Community Economic Development

If you've been on Trailforks in the past few days, you've probably noticed there are a lot fewer trails... Call it politics, but we have temporarily turned off ...unsanctioned trails to bring to attention just how few sanctioned trails the Columbia Valley actually has. If you've been riding on a trail that isn't at Mt. Swansea or Lake Lillian, it is unsanctioned and potentially threatened. We can't say thank you enough for the time and effort everyone has put in to sending messages to local government officials about why trail access is important to them. Its the personal stories that make a difference, and help them understand that these little ribbons of dirt we all love mean a whole lot to everyone. If you haven't already written, please try to do so ASAP. And if you happen to cross paths, tell them thank you for their efforts so far, and for standing up and supporting trail access. - - #cvcs #columbiavalley #invermere #radium #fairmont #mtb #mtbbc #trailforks #traillove

The word Mojo refers to a magic spell or charm, and - more broadly - a magical power. Since its introduction in 1994, the Mojo has delivered a wicked combinatio...n of fun and all-mountain prowess. When Ibis was reborn in 2005, we conjured the first Mojo Carbon. The magic of the original trail bike returns with the Mojo V4. To showcase the newest iteration, we sent a bike to the Wallner's. Robin is our EWS Team Captain. His partner Elin is a skills coach and mountain bike guide. In between taking care of their son, they've been fighting over who gets to ride the magical Mojo! The entire video was filmed by Niklas Wallner, Robin's younger brother.
