The Grade 5 - 8 Band students want to send a huge "Thank you!" to Dianne Holfeld, Rilla Irvine, Betsy Preston, Karen Muir, Wendy Griffith, Janet Hill, MaeAnn Chilman and Fauntie Phillips. These wonderful seamstresses made instrument bell covers that have allowed the students to safely play their instruments. Not only did these ladies volunteer many hours of their time, they also donated all of the fabric.
In Practical and Applied Arts Sewing class at Yorkdale School the grade seven students enjoyed tie dying fabric which they are using to make a small bag. Ms. Corson, their teacher, is super proud of all the student's effort and skill. They are all having fun. Keep stitching and smiling!

Due to the Saskatchewan Government Announcement all students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 are now required to wear masks in all classrooms and other learning spaces including gymnasiums, during indoor transitions (hallways, bathroom visits, etc.) and on the school bus. Masks are required outdoors (recess, physical education classes) where a 2 meters distance cannot be maintained. If you do not have a mask the school will provide one for you. For additional information regarding the November 25 announcement, visit: Saskatchewan.ca COVID-19 Update: New Measures in Effect November 27.
Fred Sasakamoose - indigenous hockey legend died yesterday. In native culture, when a person transitions (dies) family will customarily light a fire to help the deceased find their way to the Heavens. This fire will burn for 4 days and nights. A young hockey player from the Saskatoon Danglers has started a four day challenge to honor this indigenous hockey legend by putting a hockey stick outside the front door for 4 days. Columbia School will also be honouring this legend at this time.

Due to recent cases of COVID-19 in Yorkton and surrounding area Columbia School is changing our protocol around lunch time. Students will only be able to leave the school grounds at noon-hour if they are going home for lunch. They must do this on their own and not have classmates or friends join them at home. Students in grade 8 will no longer be able to visit any businesses off school property. This is for the safety of all students and being able to have the highest level of contact tracing in place during the school day. This will be starting tomorrow Thursday, October 8th.
