Dear Bowls Canada Supporters, 2020 was certainly a different year for everyone. Many people stepped up to help their local clubs, provincial associations and Bo...wls Canada. On this national day of giving, I wanted to share with you some of the ways that Bowls Canada has used the gifts that we have received this year: - We developed lobbying kits for clubs so that they could engage with their local governments about access to greens care. - We developed a comprehensive return to play strategy that was used by provincial associations for their clubs. - We connected clubs with up to date legal advice for the use of waivers and declarations so that clubs could continue to offer opportunities for play this past summer. - We created a series of tutorials to help local clubs make the most of their social media assets and connect with their members, even if they couldn’t meet on the greens this year. We are hard at work on projects for next year and every little bit helps us create quality programming and resources for local clubs. As I write, we are getting ready to pilot a virtual delivery for the Club Coach training workshop and are working with a marketing company to develop a strategy to help clubs win back existing members and gain new members once the pandemic threat has passed. Local bowlers and their clubs are at the heart of everything we do. On this day of national giving, we salute all of you. Thank you! De nombreuses personnes se sont mobilisées pour aider leurs clubs locaux, les associations provinciales et Bowls Canada Boulingrin. En cette journée nationale du don, je voulais partager avec vous certaines des façons dont Bowls Canada Boulingrin a utilisé les dons que nous avons reçus cette année: - Nous avons élaboré des kits de lobbying pour les clubs afin qu'ils puissent s'engager auprès de leurs gouvernements locaux sur l'accès aux soins des terrains. - Nous avons élaboré une stratégie globale de retour au jeu qui a été utilisée par les associations provinciales pour leurs clubs. - Nous avons mis les clubs en contact avec des conseils juridiques actualisés sur l'utilisation des dérogations et des déclarations afin que les clubs puissent continuer à offrir des possibilités de jouer l'été dernier. - Nous avons créé une série de tutoriels pour aider les clubs locaux à tirer le meilleur parti de leurs atouts en matière de médias sociaux et à entrer en contact avec leurs membres, même s'ils n'ont pas pu se rencontrer sur les terrains cette année. Nous travaillons dur sur les projets de l'année prochaine et chaque petite contribution nous aide à créer des programmes et des ressources de qualité pour les clubs locaux. Au moment où j'écris ces lignes, nous nous apprêtons à piloter une prestation virtuelle pour l'atelier de formation des entraîneurs de club et nous travaillons avec une agence de marketing pour élaborer une stratégie visant à aider les clubs à reconquérir leurs membres actuels et à en gagner de nouveaux une fois la menace de pandémie passée. Les boulistes locaux et leurs clubs sont au cœur de tout ce que nous faisons. En cette journée de don national, nous vous saluons tous. Nous vous remercions! A huge thank you to the Travis family for their gift of tens sets of bowls, some jacks, five trophies and some other memorabilia! Myrle and Betty Travis were m...embers of the Commonwealth club many years ago and then ended their lawn bowling days playing indoors at the Lions Senior Centre. Dad, Myrle passed away a few years ago and Mom, Betty has been moved to a care facility. The goodies were found as the family packed up their home. Thank you so much for gifting the lawn bowl items! It truly shows the passion your parents had for our sport! See more

Happy Canada Day, everyone! Our greens are drenched and the rain continues so best to stay off the greens today. BUT fond memories of our special celebration last year when members from all the Edmonton clubs joined us. We began the day with a pancake breakfast, played together on the greens and had a marvelous lunch together. But we had to cancel the afternoon games as it rained then as well.

Growing grass at 1/10 is very challenging. Please apply insect repellent and/or sunscreen on concrete or asphalt. Applying these products on grass will damage/...kill grass. Thank you for your compliance in this matter going forward and let’s all try to keep these greens at a premium standard. See more

Tomorrow is National Bowls Day! Here’s the official agenda for tomorrow, including draw times for everyone who participated in activities this week! Also, Bowls... Canada affiliated clubs will have a chance to win a Learn to Bowl Kit ($400 value) by posting a Facebook or Instagram story or post showing how you’re celebrating National Bowls Day, whether it’s a Zoom gathering, a virtual Bowls Day brunch or BBQ, or encouraging your members to celebrate in their own backyards. Post your story or photo between 9:00 am EDST on June 6th and 11:59 pm on June 7th and make sure to tag Bowls Canada in the story. Your submission must demonstrate that it meets all local health authority standards and respects the stage of opening currently approved by your provincial bowls association. The winning club will be announced on June 8th. * Demain, c'est la journée nationale du Boulingrin!
