Darrell had the perfect position washing trucks at Molesworth Farm Supply but when the pandemic hit he was left with little to do. Not wanting to lose him, the ...company came up with a new idea, Darrell's Coffee Hut! He's perfect for the job and the Stratford Public Library MakerSpace was the perfect place to create the signage. Summer Support Program 2020 Hello Families, I hope that you are all staying safe and well. As the province begins to slowly re open, I am hoping that everything runs smoothly for you and your family during this time.... We are hoping on running our summer Support Program pending Government approval. Of course, it wont be business as usual with different rules and regulations that will be put in place but we will adjust and continue to make Summer Support a great experience for everyone. Summer support may be a little different this year due to Government regulations (i.e. social distancing, activities not running, businesses not open etc.) however staff have been hired and we will be working hard to come up with many different alternatives and great ideas on how we will deal with this. We thank you for your patience and look forward to working with you this summer. Sincerely Kelly Mackie Summer Support Coordinator

Way to go Caressant Care Listowel!

Today was Childrens Day Ok folks. Today was another day filled with good news. So much so that even the major networks could not help but report on more goo...d news than bad news. Thats the ticket. So, here we go: Almost all the provinces outside of Ontario and Quebec had either no new cases today or numbers in the single or low double digits. Man have we done so well New infection rates are higher in Quebec and Ontario due to the high population densities in larger cities like Toronto and Montreal and to the timing of Quebecs March break. Cities around the world with international airports have all experienced a much higher level of infections. We have almost tested 1M people in Canada and only 65,000 have tested positive. That is a low rate of infection and an even lower death rate ( 4,000 ) with many of those deaths, unfortunately, in longterm care. There are 18,000 cases in Ontario with 13,000 recovered. Alberta joins the list of provinces with more than 50 % of COVID 19 cases recovered And music to my ears..... Ontario will relax some of its coronavirus restrictions in the days ahead, moving with "cautious optimism" to allow garden centres, nurseries, hardware stores and safety supply stores to reopen so long as they adhere to the same public health measures currently in place at grocery stores. Big breath. This is outstanding. Today, we ran a childrens clinic, bringing in all of our 1 year old and 18 month old babes for their well child checks and immunizations. I so love the kids. Eighteen month olds really struggle with this visit, but even the most fearful gave me a shy smile when they saw my big bird cap and my orange and blue gloves. Please do not delay in getting your child immunized ( thats a dangerous comment to make on Facebook, so I have learned. No offence meant for the anti-vaxxers, but vaccines save millions of lives every year.) We dont want to replace the COVID 19 pandemic with an outbreak of polio or diphtheria. Today reminded me of childrens day at the clinic in Lesotho years ago when half the children were critically ill and many died while waiting in the waiting room. Our global efforts there have made a huge difference in sub Saharan Africa. We will continue to fight that pandemic as well. Blessings to the 50 kids we care for in foster homes in Lesotho. We have your back in the COVID 19 pandemic as well. Two hundred and fifty more cloth masks made their way through my back door today, from five different people. God bless you all. At one point, I opened the back door to a line up of people, properly distanced, not waiting for appointments, but waiting to drop off donations. Read that again. Lining up to make donations. Read it just one more time. It makes my heart sing. Thats the best of us pouring out by the bucket load. As Christine and I left the clinic tonight, I opened the door one last time for the day, and there at may feet was a bag filled with surgical masks. We cried. Without surgical masks, I cant keep my practise open. It is a vital piece of PPE needed for both the community practices and the COVID 19 clinic but provincial supplies are still lacking. I only had enough to keep my clinic open for a few more weeks. Word got out and of course, you solved that problem too. Sir Edmund Burke once said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing." There are so many of us doing so much more than nothing. COVID 19 simply cannot triumph. Well done. Board meeting tonight but after that, I will head to bed with a singing heart thanks to you. Sleep well my friends. With such gratitude. Coffee time with Sheila and Shaunna!

Well...That was a day! This group of followers has created quite a stir. My nurse practitioner and I are literally winded as we race to usher patients in throu...gh the back door, donning and doffing our personal protective equipment in between patients and carefully cleaning the exam rooms once a patient is ushered out the back door. It is a much lengthier process than it was in the pre-COVID 19 days when we just moved from room to room with no PPE and with all cleaning left to the office cleaner at the end of the day. These are just the patients we see. We phone most of the scheduled patients on top of all this. Now we are weaving in YOU and happily doing so. Seven thousand dollars in donations so far with most of that already distributed to people in great need and to equipment for the COVID 19 clinic. There was $3,000 on my office managers desk today. We discussed where we thought it should go. The needs are great. We decided to use it to purchase more high quality cloth masks. There are elderly and vulnerable people out there with no access to the internet. They cant order masks online nor can they download instructions as to how to make a mask. They also cannot go out in public without one. Several of these folks knocked on the back door today to pick up masks. I stand in the parking lot with them, showing them how to put them on and take them off. Just as we made the decision to buy more, four separate back door drop offs happened, all of them with the exact masks we needed. More vulnerable people will start picking these up next week and one fellow who dropped off a box of masks that his company is now making, offered to deliver masks to anyone in need who cannot make it to my back door. Just as we recognize a need, you fill it. Thank you. I heard a radio personality state that we are now living in isolation in a world that has lost its culture. I disagree. We may have lost what our culture used to be with its rich social activities and networks but now we have a culture of compassion and kindness. It is far richer. I am so proud of all of you. My office cant keep up and we are so OK with that. Lots of good stuff to report which I will dole out in posts over the next few days. Here are some tidbits: More than 20,000 Canadians have recovered from COVID 19. Six provinces and territories reported no deaths this week. The rate of infections of COVID 19 is now doubling every 21 days. In a post I wrote earlier this week, that number was 16 and in the early days of the pandemic, that number was every 2 days. The curve is brilliantly flat!! Your work of social distancing has allowed us to win this first battle. We won! I have been treating HIV positive patients for 30 years. I have watched the remarkable development of anti-viral medications. We are now using that technology in the fight against COVID 19. There is an anti-viral drug that is heading into the final research phase and it is showing promising results in the treatment of the most critically ill COVID 19 patients. There is more evidence that wearing a cloth mask in public stops a significant number of infections from occurring. It must become our newest weapon. We are smashing this folks but we must remember, the hardship is great. More and more people are suffering economically and emotionally. We have not experienced this kind of overwhelming and collective trauma in 101 years. None of us have experience with this. But there is no question that we are learning not only to survive but to thrive. Be gentle and kind to yourself and to others because this is massive. We will win. There is so much to learn about our strength, resilience, creativity, and ingenuity in the process. Have not doubt about my capacity and your capacity to manage this. Be of good cheer my friends. Stay tuned for more information about that all-important mask. Anne-Marie Please share
