Happy New Years Best Wishes in 2021
Your mental health is very important. If you are taking care of yourself that means that you are more able to help others that may need your support. Take time each day to practice self care.
Remember to check in on your friends, neighbors, and family members. A lot of people are struggling right now: an extra reminder to give support and show compassion and empathy. #HolidaySeason #compassion #ymhc
Well 2020 was an interesting one. One that we will never forget. Let's all look forward to whatever 2021 brings us. I wish everyone to be happy and healthy. Keep staying safe.
Now and over the Christmas break remember to take care of your mental health. Take time everyday for self-care.
The Community Helpers Program helps support students mental health in many of these ways. Such as; Educating participants about what mental health is and why it is just as important as your physical health. Making sure that participants are familiar with the appropriate community resources, and when to reach out to them. Talking & Coping; learning when, where and how to have a conversation with someone who may be struggling with a mental health concern. Peer to Peer Suppor...t; looking out for others around you, knowing the signs of some one struggling. Knowing when to have a conversation. Training incorporates teachers & families to help as those supportive role models within your inner circle of supports. Creating a supportive safe environment to talk safety about mental health. Doing this all while understanding that you will not be able to safely take care of others if you do not take care of yourself first. If you or someone you know would be interested in learning more about The Community Helpers Program or are interested in participating in training in the future please send me an email for more information. The Kids Help Phone is ALWAYS THERE for you if you need extra support 24/7/365 It is a crisis support line is mainly targeted to youth aged five to 25, but also supports adults. To get help via text message, text CONNECT to 68-68-68 for youth and 741-741 for adults. I sent a text this afternoon, I received a text back within a few minutes. Told the counsellor it was a test text. She was very friendly and made sure that I was safe and didn't need any additional supports.
Self-care is important to do. Each day try and take 30 minutes to do something that you enjoy.
