COVID 19 Update: Extended Closure of day/evening programs to March 31, 2021. The second wave of COVID 19 is far greater than anyone expected. York Region moved from the Control Red Zone to Grey Lock Down Maximum Measures, December 14, 12:01 am. Yesterday, rising cases across the province led the Government of Ontario to declare a state of emergency effective January 13, 2021 12:01 AM.... Over the past ten months, Community Living Central York (CLCY) has taken rapid and necessary steps to address the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID 19 public health safety measures and restrictions in the GREY zone, the state of emergency in province, we must extend the closure of our day/evening programs until March 31, 2021. Continue to reachout to staff for support, participate in the virtual programs, send your ideas for programs, it is important we stay connected. Good News the government announced today, Phase Two vaccinations identifying eligibility. Groups eligible to receive vaccines as part of Phase Two: Older adults, beginning with those 80 years of age and older and decreasing in five-year increments over the course of the vaccine rollout. Individuals living and working in high-risk congregate settings. Frontline essential workers (e.g., first responders, teachers, food processing industry); and Individuals with high-risk chronic conditions and their caregivers. We are almost there, however, we must continue to be vigilant. We strongly encourage everyone, to be vigilant and save lives by following recommendations regardless of where you live, to slow the spread of COVID 19: Avoid social gatherings and limit close contacts to your household, the people you live with. Adhere to the restrictions in your region on public and private gatherings. Maintain two meters of physical distancing from everyone else. Wear a face-covering indoors and wear one outdoors if physical distancing may not be maintained or if wearing one is required. Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly. Stay home if you have COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are mild. Cover your cough, sneeze with your arm. Get tested if you have symptoms compatible with COVID-19, been exposed to someone with COVID, or suspected case. Individuals and families from higher transmission regions should avoid travel to lower transmission regions, except for essential reasons. Please visit Ontario.ca/COVID19 for the full list of public health region classifications and the COVID-19 response framework: keeping Ontario safe and open. We will get through this together, be safe. Colleen Zakoor Executive Director
