The one-time payment for Canadians with disabilities began to be paid out recently following months of delay. Announced in June, the tax-free benefit of up to $600 is intended to help offset additional expenses necessitated by the pandemic, such as personal protective equipment, transportation, and groceries.

November 23 from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. EST It’s estimated that only about 25% of people who have a disability received the $600 COVID Disability Benefit that was paid on October 30th. Millions of people were left behind. People on ODSP didn’t automatically receive the benefit. If you didn’t get the benefit, you have until December 31 to apply for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). If you qualify for the... DTC, you will be eligible for the payment and other important benefits but the application process is confusing and can be overwhelming. Wayne MacLeod is a family physician with a full-time practice in Nova Scotia. He has an interest in helping persons with disabilities apply for the Disability Tax Credit and has been successful in helping applicants across Canada. He is the author of the eBook "How to Successfully Apply for the Disability Tax Credit".

The staff at Kwik Shred are busier than ever. Fun fact in 2019 they shredded more than 300,000 pounds of paper and about 500, 000 pounds of metal (shredded license plates) and this year they’re expecting to exceed this number.

Please check out the Government of Ontario's new web-page dedicated to engagement on Developmental Services Reform. The survey asks for ideas, comments and feedback on how to improve supports for people with developmental disabilities across Ontario. Submission deadline is Friday, 4th December. Given the significance of this consultation, we encourage everyone to participate in this survey. Share this information with others who may be interested in participating.
