A heartfelt thank you to incredible nurse Rosie and the team at Ottawa Hospital - Civic Campus who have made up these heartfelt gifts for our clients in need again this year. These beautiful bags have essentials for parents and babies and they are a truly lovely way for our clients to feel cared for this holiday season. Taking care of our clients is a team effort and we're so lucky to be part of this wonderful community.

Was your baby admitted to CHEO after birth or while they were still breastfeeding/chestfeeding?

Are you up with your baby? "Being born just puts your baby on the other side of your skin."

Face coverings are now required when you come to your clinic visits. If you don't have a reusable mask, please ask your midwife and they will provide you with one, thanks to an amazing donation from the Guelph Mask Squad

We recognize PRIDE as a moment to honor and acknowledge the spectrum of sexualities, genders, sexes and experiences within the birth world. So, as much as June ...is a moment for celebration, it’s also an acknowledgement of how far we have to go. We live in a world that regularly attempts to limit and block our access to reproductive rightsand often trans, non-binary, two-spirit and LGBTQIA+ parents and birthing people are excluded from our collective fight to improve the birth world. As we close out the month of June, we’re revisiting THEY/THEM/THEIRS, a conversation from BORN INTO THIS 2019, in which Trystan Reese, Emma Robinson, Miriam Z Perez and MAC Brydum explore the gender biases and binaries that are still present within reproductive health. You can listen up and learn with us (for free) here: https://wearedti.podia.com/they-them-theirs Quote from Trystan Reese #wearedti #reproductivejusticedoulas

[Version française ci-dessous] We have some very exciting news to share! Effective Friday, June 26, we are able to open up the birth rooms to accommodate up to ...6 people per admission. Included in this number are the birthing person, the birth partner, two midwives, midwifery students, doulas, and extra support people. Currently, all support people must wear a mask upon entering the centre and in common areas and hallways. We are not able to offer in and out privileges at this time. If you are planning to attend a birth at the birth centre in the coming weeks, we encourage you to read the PDF guidelines we have posted on our website to prepare for your visit. Thank you! Merci!

Should you wake a sleeping baby? It depends..

We are so excited to offer jaundice testing at home! The Ministry of Health has supplied midwifery practices in Ontario with portable bilimeters. This will decrease exposure of families and midwives to hospitals and labs. Oh and the babies will love to have a painless test instead of a blood draw A Win-Win for all #ottawamidwives #health
