In honour of Transgender Awareness Week, we are revisiting Rainbow Grant recipient Hanlon McGregor's production of Unexpectedly Trans. Trans rights and stories have become more prevalent in media and public policy over the past few years, but representation for the community in entertainment remains slim GLAAD’s 2017/18 report on LGBTQ+ inclusion noted just 5% of LGBTQ-identifying characters in film and television are trans-identified. SUPPORT SPIRIT DAY! LGBTQ youth disproportionately face bullying and harassment because of their identities. Each year, millions go purple for Spirit Day to support LGBTQ youth in a united stand against bullying. Pledging to go purple" on Spirit Day is a way for everyone global and local brands and companies, world leaders, celebrities, neighbors, parents, classmates, and friends to visibly show solidarity with youth and to take part in the largest, most visible LGBTQ anti-bullying campaign in the world.

The day is recognised annually and is a great opportunity for women, families and friends to come together, connect, celebrate and raise awareness about the importance of community.
Yesterday marks 22 years since Matthew Shepard was brutally attacked and murdered. The reason for the attack? Because he was gay. It is estimated that most people under 35 today don’t know about Matthew. Take a moment to share with someone today - amplify Matthew’s story.

Today is #OrangeShirtDay. Remember to wear your orange shirt to commemorate, honour and support those we have lost, along with the survivors and their families. The annual Orange Shirt Day on September 30th opens the door to global conversation on all aspects of Residential Schools. It is an opportunity to create meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. A discussion all Canadians can tune into and create bridges with each other for reconciliation. A day for survivors to be reaffirmed that they matter, and so do those that have been affected. Every Child Matters, even if they are an adult, from now on. For more information visit: https://www.orangeshirtday.org/
