FALL 2020 - BACK TO SCHOOL DURING A PANDEMIC Most students and teachers are in the process of settling back into the classroom, either physically or virtually. Returning to school after summer vacation can be a challenging and stressful time under normal circumstances but this year is definitely not typical. I feel for everyone struggling right now with the unknowns that currently exist amid the coronavirus. Under these current conditions, it is especially appropriate to emp...hasize the importance of sleep. Many students do not spend enough time getting quality sleep which affects how they perform in school as well as compromising their immunity. Today is not the time to skimp on slumber. To reduce the risk of getting any kind of illness (including COVID), ensure you are getting the recommended hours of sleep for your age group - see table below. In addition, healthy eating and hydration are necessary to keep immunity strong. Supplementation is also beneficial. My favourites are Vitamins D, C, B-complex, Zinc, Garlic and Omega 3. At this time, I'd like to wish you all well and hope that you remain healthy, both physically and mentally during this trying time. If you experience troubles obtaining adequate sleep, then know that help is available. Community Sleep Coach can assess your daytime & bedtime routines, habits, sleep environment, sleep complaints and symptoms. A tailored sleep improvement plan once implemented, will help get your sleep back on track. Best of luck and take care! www.communitysleepcoach.com Sacrificing sleep leads to sleep deprivation which in turn weakens the immune system. So get your ZZZ's to avoid getting sick!

An appropriate article from CTV News we'd like to share. The coronavirus has made the last many months challenging for most of us. It is no surprise that with the additional stressors brought on by the pandemic, sleep has suffered tremendously. If you are one of those people, that finds sleep quality and quantity at an all time low, know that help is available. Talk to your doctor or a sleep professional to get your sleep back on track. Your physical and mental wellbeing will... thank you. www.communitysleepcoach.com https://www.ctvnews.ca//covidsomnia-why-the-pandemic-is-me
