ESCAPE is a one-on-one interactive performance exploring themes of escapism,... psychogeography, corporeality, and the dissociation from the body that comes with an increase of online interaction. This work is an individualized audience experience that takes place between midnight and 3am. Participants sign up for an allotted time, and are sent a phone number. At their designated time, they text ‘I want to escape’ to this number. This sets off a 30-minute, one-on-one performance via text message, a phone call, and an online video link. Re:Framing For the past two-weeks Company 605 has been carrying out a pilot program / experiment we’re calling Re:Framing which afforded financial support and 24h/day studio space to dance artists Jamie Robinson, Zahra Shahab and Jessica Wilkie (along with 605 Co-Director Josh Martin) to each engage in their own artistic residency, while jointly envisioning different models and formats for both our creative processes and public engagement/dissemination. The residency has bec...ome a proposition of how togetherness can still occur while working separately. Within a number of their own projects and ideas, each artist has been independently making, while also acknowledging this simultaneity, our shared environment and crossing paths, and the ongoing dialogue throughout, as a connective tissue between us and our distanced processes, pulling them closer. We’ve also been working on honouring what is present, reframing what we already have right now as not only sufficient, but infinitely valuable and sharable. Today, our experiment is a presentation format dedicated to one viewer that is testing concurrent happenings and guiding focus through density. For Emmalena - forever ago. KW Studios - Summer Subsidy Program Each initiative will offer free studio time with tech fees included, as well as a $400.00 honorarium, which will be delivered upon completion of the project. Initiatives can be refocused at the discretion of the artists and based on the artists' needs and the intent of use put forward in the application. Great opportunity. Take a look!

Some exciting news... Our Artistic Co-Director Josh Martin has been nominated for a Dora Award in Outstanding Performance by an Individual for Leftovers (!!!) Congratulations, Josh!

This is just a post. These are just words. This part is easy and empty without the work our organization is committing to doing. We have benefitted from Black culture, the contributions of POC artists, while working within a White system. We will work on change. We don’t know how it will look, but we want it to look like opportunities, funds, access, advocacy, safety, inclusivity. We will graciously accept criticism and we will listen. This change is important, and without doing this work, we remain part of the problem. This is a time to reflect and examine, and proceed with intention.
