Flexibility doesn't just come from fascia around the muscles, it can come from posture, joints and nerves as well. This picture identifies how we can utilize the spinal cord to move the sciatic nerve through tractioning the nerve and sliding the nerve through the body, (nerve flossing).

I was offered some amazing criticism last week. The criticism was, the purpose of your videos seems unclear. It does not look like an advertisement nor does it look 100% informative. This is 100% accurate. I do not expect these videos to do either of those jobs particularly well. These videos were filmed a while ago and I did not actually remember why I made these the way I did. However after some time I recalled "the importance of these videos is to get people asking the co...rrect questions." I would like to see clients taking more responsibility in finding quality trainers rather than just finding any trainer. This video is by far my favourite video as it discusses a few things for everyone to look for when getting a trainer, or even a therapist. This video is near and dear to me after having spent the better part of a decade involved in a sport where I have seen the influence of media on the psychology behind sport and fitness. I touch on some topics that are very controversial however I do not go into detail as I am not qualified to discuss the point much further beyond than what I discussed. I hope to stimulate discussion and awareness, getting people asking the appropriate questions. Sincerely, David Robin R.Kin

We are designed to move more than just forward and backwards. Including rotational, and lateral training practices will improve posture in and out of sport.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWN13pKVp9s The main point of information I took from this is that our population is moving in a direction where we are unable to meet the physical demands required for play. Therefore when we begin a new program or sport to get into shape we become injured and a cycle begins or continues. ... Proper coaching education and information must be given from coaches to newcomers in sports and play. This is a great discussion re. injury prevention, health care, education, economics and being a role model.

You can't stretch or lengthen the IT Band! :) It's also not the best idea to foamroll the IT band. Jason Shane from Shane Physiotherapy explains why and shows y...ou a way to use the foamroller to target the glute max and TFL. We are not breaking up scar tissue and adhesions with foamrolling or massaging... just creating sensory input. This can change the perceived tightness or pain in an area, which is a neurophysiological response. It has short term effects, which can be used when you load the tissues immediately after it. For more information about this topic, you can watch this video made by Quinn Henoch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vthkcq_1D1M He will be doing a live video on Trust me, I'm a Physiotherapist, check for the date under the tab: "events". Great shirt btw, Jason! :)

Coaches and Athletes be aware of the friction that is happening in your body. We need a balance in our body as our joints are designed to be compressed and decompressed. If you spend too much time on one or the other it can lead to problems in your movement patterns.

Injury Prevention. Video 2 This video series is meant to have some helpful tips regarding training. I encourage you to take a more proactive approach to your training. Making sure you are asking the right questions to ensure longevity in your sport and lifestyle without consequence. Every individual requires a different amounts of macro and micronutrients, different timings for ingestion depending on lifestyle, these questions should be consulted with a nutritionist or reg...istered dietician. As someone who deals with movement I have found insufficient water intake as well as lack of nutrients help create environments where an athlete or person are more susceptible to injury. Being dehydrated first affects the fascia that surrounds our muscles. When the fascia is dehydrated this increases the friction/stiffness in our muscles. This increases the amount of adhesions (knots) in our body that need to be broken down or stretched out.

Taping some drop knuckle. It is important to recognize that drop knuckle will not necessarily show up in an X-ray. Nor will it be noticeable to the person who has it as it is very difficult to actually look at the front of your fists. As well it is important not to look at the top of the knuckles as the swelling may make it not noticeable. For this individual the affected knuckle is the 4th digit. with the tear between the 3rd and 4th digit. Looking at the location of the m...iddle joint of the fingers will make this more obvious. This injury will take a long time to heal. Consult a doctor, physiotherapist or athletic therapist. For guidelines of return to play.

Sometimes flexibility does not come from the muscle tissue but it also comes from stiffness in the nerves. Here's a great video from Dr. Buttler Describing the anatomy/physiology of nerves.

This is something that has confused a lot of people who have come to see me with knee pain or low back pain. Quite often low back pain will be propegated by no forward movement of the kneed putting all the load on the back and hips. On the other side of the coin forward movement of the knee when there is anterior knee pain can create more pain during squatting movements.

A lot of you have seen me doing animal flow for the last two months. This practice has fixed a lot of postural problems and strength imbalances in my body. However one thing I didn't take into account was it's ability to fix my running gait. My heel strike/push off are completely different compared to how they used to be. I am relearning how to run.

This is a brilliant idea for sports where you are required to stand up. The way the body is loaded in "vertical sports: hockey, soccer, volleyball, running, boxing etc." He includes rotation through the frontal and sagital planes. Rotation through the transverse plane is not apparent in the video. Great ideas and research are coming from this group.
