Labels make all the difference! Yesterday we added labels to a homeschool supplies cupboard and now everyone will know where items belong! If you look closely you will notice that there are some containers that are empty. This is good as it allows for flexibility and for things to be changed as needed. Adding a new subject... there’s a place available for it, which means it won’t end up in a pile somewhere else because it doesn’t fit!
So what else would you expect when two uppercase companies combine their genius ideas together... LEGO IKEA storage kits of course!! ... I’m definitely loving the crisp white design and I’m to be checking them out next month when they hit the shelves. I’m always on the lookout for good ideas for LEGO storage
So I just noticed on the recent update from my student’s school that students will NOT have access to lockers at school. Students will be expected to carry around their backpacks and use them to store their items. I’m making the assumption that this may also be the case at other schools as well. So given this new information I’m going to be making some changes to my kid’s school supplies. Here some ideas I’m considering: *Reducing binders from 2 to 1... *Reducing the size of the binders *Smaller (less thick) ringed notebooks and sketch pads *Less colouring tools (pencil crayons, markers, etc) *Keeping the extra supplies (pens, pencils, erasers, glue, stapler) at home. *Ensuring they have good backpacks with lots of pockets so that can it can handle the weight and store items properly. *providing smaller packages of Kleenex to be stored inside the backpacks *using a smaller type of lunch kit *not sending kids to school with unnecessary clothing extras *labelling items that I may not have labelled before *providing more external clips on their backpacks for quick storage. *** and I’m aware that I may have to tweak things as we go along**** Please feel free to share any other ideas or creative solutions you have come up! Tootles, Kathryn
We have been working hard to help a busy homeschooling mom reorganize her teaching room and we think the results are FANTASTIC!! We created systems within the cabinets to accommodate curriculum changes throughout the year and we even gave Teacher her own designated teaching station and supplies. (The finishing touch of vinyl labels will be added as soon as they arrive )
I know some of you are keeping spices just in case... but did you consider that they don’t last forever? Spices get stale, become less potent and can develop bitter and unpleasant flavours. Whole spices stay fresh for 4 years. Ground spices for 3-4 years ... Dried leafy herbs for 1-3 years. So toss those unwanted spices into your compost pile and enjoy the extra space in your cupboard!
