Customer Beware! Some one is trying to mislead you. Some local computer repair techs claim to be able to return you computer to you working like new in a matter of hours. They are deceiving you. Read on if you want to know the complete process of making your computer work like new. Some technicians claim they can return your computer to you working like new in a matter of hours. "Like new" cannot be done in less than 8 hours unless serious short cuts are taken or some cr...itical installations are not done. Consider the process I have used to do thousands of repairs: 1. Finding and removing customer data from a hard drive can take hours, depending on the number of gigabits to be saved and the speed of the PC. 2. Installation of Windows, either from Factory Reset or DVD can take at least an hour, more on many models. 3. Often times drivers, have to be found, downloaded and installed. This can take many hours depending on how hard it is to find the right drivers. 4. Installing Windows 7 SP 1 takes about 1 hours and Internet Explorer 11 another 30 minutes. 5 . Downloading and installing 186 Microsoft updates can take up to three hours. 6. Installation of firewall, Acrobat Reader, Adobe Flash, Java and other necessary software to make your PC work properly adds more time. 7. Copying user data saved in No. 1 to the newly formatted hard drive can add more hours, again depending on the amount of data to be restored. From start to finish, if no problems what ever are encountered, returning a Windows 7 laptop "Like New" to a customer requires a minimum of 8 hours. About the same to Reset a Windows 8 computer to factory. Quicker for a Refresh of Windows 8 which is only half a job. I tell a customer I need your PC overnight. This give me the time to do all that is required so the computer really is returned to my customer like new or better. See more
