A technician brought this 3rd Party Filter in so we cut it open to see for ourselves what was in it. To start the information listed already tells us the 3rd party filter has much less capacity. Secondly, the technician that brought the filter said when he removed the filter there was so much pressure in that filter he could tell the water was NOT being filtered through it. So we opened the filter and we could clearly see that even though the outside is shaped and molded ex...actly the same as an ORIGINAL SubZero Filter the inside is clearly different. The real SZ filter has an actual Carbon Filter that is soft to the touch. The 3rd party is a hard cylinder of unknown origin. Whether it is a neutral product or dangerous we we have no idea. Why would you endanger your loved ones by taking a chance like this? It is also missing the spout that attaches to the top of the filter. So is a "cheaper" version of the original filter worth it? In this case NO. This customer was lucky that the filter didn't end up causing damage to the unit or health issues. See more

Here's an example that KAMPEN APPLIANCE SERVICE ran into that was causing an issue with a customer's fridge. We have never heard of an issue with an ORIGINAL SUBZERO water or air filter.
