#CampaignforConcordia vice-chair Françoise Bertrand, LLD 13, was recently named to the Order of Montreal. Read more: http://bit.ly/2OjWrHW. Bertrand is a trailblazing businesswoman and philanthropist whose career has been marked by a number of firsts. She was the first woman to serve as president and CEO of various organizations, including the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ), the CRTC - Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, and Télé-Québec. She is now the first woman to chair the board of directors at VIA Rail Canada, a position she’s held since 2017. We're so proud of our connection to Bertrand and wish her a heartfelt congratulations on this new honour! #CUpride

With indoor venues shut down, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the performing arts hard. Yet, thanks to Julia Noulin-Mérat, BFA 04, a live outdoor opera came to life last fall! #CUpride #CUalumni https://bit.ly/3r8QDzj

I recognize that this is not just a job. It represents something bigger than just me. I know that this is meaningful for a lot of people. This month Maya Johnson, BA 06, will become the first Black woman in the role of anchor at CTV Montreal. Johnson acknowledges that the new role and the increased visibility is an important milestone and moment for many. The veteran journalist was the station’s youngest reporter at age 21 and is currently serving as Quebec City bureau chie...f and an occasional fill-in anchor. We don't know the exact date but she is scheduled to start as the 5 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. anchor this month! https://bit.ly/3pUG6Gv Concordia University Department of Journalism

We will continue to celebrate Black history and our incredible alumni community throughout the year.

Yesterday we shared a photo of Guy and St. Catherine's intersection from 1999. Today, we're sharing the same intersection twenty years later in 2019. Isn't it incredible how fast things have changed? The 17-storey Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV Building), which stands at this intersection, opened in September 2005. In 2009 the John Molson Building (MB Building) officially opened on the corner of Guy and de Maisonneuve just across the... street. These two striking buildings forever changed the Montreal downtown landscape. #FlashbackFriday #nostalgia

#TBT: Who can name this street corner? Hint: The photo was taken in 1999 by Shaun Perry for Concordia's Thursday Report. Today, the corner looks completely different. #ThrowbackThursday #TriviaThursday

Veronika Roux-Valchova, BComm 01, brings families together to learn and enjoy music through her company Art Strollers. Roux-Vlachova launched Art Strollers in 2008 to offer museum and gallery tours for parents and their babies. Art Strollers’ initial inspired Roux-Vlachova to add classical concerts to her company’s offerings. They were very popular and parents loved it." Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Roux-Vlachova, like so many entrepreneurs, had to quickly shift business... online. She launched Art Strollers Academy this summer to offer operatic and classical music content for children and families. https://www.concordia.ca//how-an-entrepreneur-builds-commu
