Concussion Care Northwest 12.02.2021

With a new year comes excitement and change.... I am so excited to announce the addition of Kate Clower, Speech-Language Pathologist to the Speech & Language Services Thunder Bay & Neuro Rehab North, Speech & Language Services Team. Kate is a registered speech language pathologist (SLP) with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and a member of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA). She grad...uated with a Masters of Science in Communication Disorders from Minnesota State University-Mankato. Kate was born and raised in Thunder Bay, ON and has been providing speech and language services for over a decade. She is passionate about providing excellent speech and language services to her home community and region. Kate is a veteran SLP that is currently employed by the George Jeffrey Children's Centre (GJCC) contracted to the Lakehead District School Board working specifically on pre-literacy and overall language skills. Prior to taking on the school board contract, Kate was a clinical therapist in the school-age program, as well as the clinical Professional Practice Lead (PPL) for speech language pathology at GJCC. Kate is also currently an active member of the George Jeffrey Children's Centre Wellness Committee. Throughout her career, Kate has also worked in the private sector in Thunder Bay with Partners in Rehab and in Alberta Health Services in Leduc, Alberta. Kate is currently one of two SLPs in Thunder Bay currently recognized as a faculty member: Lecturer with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). Kate has been committed to helping upcoming professionals gain the experience needed by accepting multiple students and taking the role of clinical preceptor through NOSM and as an initial practice Mentor through CASLPO. Prior to her professional career as an SLP, Kate obtained a full ride Division I NCAA hockey scholarship to Minnesota State University-Mankato (MSU-Mavericks). Kate has coached Norwest IP1 hockey for the past two seasons and was also an assistant coach of the Bantam AA Queens during their 2016-2017 season. Kate is a wife to Chad Clower and a mother of two boys, Kaden and Burke. In her spare time she enjoys playing on her own hockey team, skate skiing, golfing, the outdoors and recently began some interior design. Kate brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and veteran leadership to her clinical practice and believes and is passionate in client-centred care. I am honoured to welcome Kate to Speech & Language Services Thunder Bay and Neuro Rehab North, Speech & Language Services where she will be working solely with the adult population (ages 19+ years old) and in concussion management.
