#teamtuesday Here's Charles. Confluence's most eligible #bartender. It's this fresh and friendly face that works our front lines as the Confluence bar manager. He's been with us for over a year, and we can't be more thankful! Through the pandemic, Charles has shown his dedication to growing our business; supporting us with his excellent work ethic, amazing bartending skills and go-getter attitude. As any other #yycbusiness knows, having these people on your team through times... of crisis is invaluable. Charles spent most of his youth in Canmore, raised in a massive family (1 of 9 siblings!). Although he's lived in Calgary for a long time, he often heads back home to the mountains to ski, hike and visit family. He loves sports (you might tell from his fit physique) and reading (except when it's mandatory for school). Currently crushing through his bachelor's degree in business, Charles has big ambitions to work in finance and banking. He claims to love working so much that the crazy hours of an investment banker don't bother him at all! His drinks of choice are bourbon and Old-Fashioned's, but since we don't have whiskey yet (), his favourite Confluence spirit is the #Aquavit and recommends the Pineapple Express #cocktail on our new menu. #teamtuesday Meet Mac, another multi-faceted, many talented member of our team. He is our mash master, glorified janitor, spirit tamer, production guru and beer cognisor. Mac is on the the people who help make our production run smoothly. He does everything from turning grains into beer, bottling and labelling spirits, to making that final delivery to your door.... Mac is currently in his final year of the #OldsCollege Brewing program, making him a valuable asset of our team by applying his formal education to our production. We hope to help him on his path to become a top-notch #brewer. In his free time, Mac enjoys a good round of golf, playing hockey and experimenting with cocktail recipes (and testing them on his parents). He really loves the Confluence Manchester Dry #Gin, as the floral and fruity notes are great for all sorts of #cocktails. Thank you Mac for bringing your jovial, keen and energetic demeanour to the Confluence team. #Thanksgiving is almost here! Our farmers have been hard at work finishing up the harvest season. This is a beautiful photo of where our wheat comes from just north of #Calgary. Thanksgiving, as we all know, is a celebration of the end of harvest season and for being thankful of the bounty that the earth has provided and the company to share it with. ... On that note, our tasting room WON'T have extended hours this long weekend, as we also want to gorge ourselves on food until we become comatose. Out with the old and in with the new! Yes, we have changed our menu, and in doing so, we have removed our dearly beloved cocktail, the Rita. Although we've definitely not seen the last of her at our bar, we've decided to share the #cocktailrecipe of this delectable drink. This is an #expert level cocktail recipe. If you need to level up, do some internet searching to learn about these ingredients or techniques. ... - The Rita - 1.5oz Manchester Dry Gin 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice 0.75 oz peppercorn syrup (recipe below) 1 tsp Rose water 1/2 tsp Saline solution (aka Salt water) Light a sprig of rosemary on fire over a metal or non-flammable surface. Place your cocktail glass over top to capture the smother the flame and capture the smoke. Leave glass, while you shake all ingredients together, and then double strain into the cocktail glass. Garnish with the burnt rosemary. Enjoy! As one of our founding members, he has worn many hats since we opened our doors, but his main hustles are sales, distribution, events, partnerships and community engagement. With a background in business, Jamie has a range of work experience from baby food, yoga instructing, Bassbus Events and now, Confluence Distilling (way he will remain unti...l he dies). But what does Jamie like to do in his free time? We'll never truly know because he doesn't have any. I guess in those rare moments, when he's not sanitising his liver at local lounges, he's probably spending time with his mannequin, Sophia, or hiking the Rockies for them vistas. #teamtuesdays It's business time. Or at least that's what Loren's suit would suggest. Meet Loren, our amaze-balls, super smart #CFO. Loren has been on the Confluence team since Dec 2019, but as he works behind the scenes, many people haven't gotten a chance to meet this fine number lovin' man. Loren is our finance leader and (self-proclaimed) token introvert. He overseas our forecasting, financing strategy and taxes (riveting stuff). He started his career in public practise ...and has since moved his way up through various financial institutions in AB, becoming the successful CPA you see here today. We asked Loren what he would do if he won a million dollars. He said he'd open a laundromat. If you don't dream big, at least dream smart! He obviously knows something the rest of us don't. Outside of work, Loren loves spreadsheets and his favourite Confluence spirit is our #aquavit. He also enjoys working with #entrepreneurs, pictures of cute dogs, and running (but only on treadmills).
