HAPPY CANADA DAY

Coniston Playground Association 30.04.2020

For those who haven’t been that way, work has begun today on preparing the site for the construction of our new skatepark.

Coniston Playground Association 10.04.2020

Great news! The company that will be preparing the site for the installation of our new SKATEPARK are expected to begin work this week.....As part of the plans, the basketball nets currently located behind the firehall are being permanently moved to the outdoor rink at the same time. Therefore, they will be inaccessible for a few days.....If all things go according to plan, we should see the skatepark installed for this Summer.

From City of Greater Sudbury: Work is underway to prepare the City’s 14 splash pads for reopening. The regular opening of splash pads for the summer season takes up to three weeks. All splash pads are expected to be open by June 26, 2020. Please check the status of the splash pad before attending at www.greatersudbury.ca//recreational-facilities/splash-pads/... In order to reopen these amenities, staff must remove barriers, install signage, conduct safety inspections and perform seasonal maintenance after winterization. Splash pads are unsupervised water play areas, and parents/guardians must supervise their children at all times. These amenities are not sanitized and users are reminded to wash or sanitize their hands well before and after use, and maintain a distance of two metres from others.

While playgrounds and some other outdoor spaces are out of the question at the moment, it’s still possible to go for an outdoor family walk. Fortunately there are all sorts of other things to discover outside, even on streets you’ve walked a thousand times. Whether it’s looking for leaves or spotting shapes in the clouds, Environment Canada has created an Urban Biokit that includes an illustrated checklist of what your children can look for as you stroll. https://www.canada.ca//a26bd349-/biourbaine_lettre_ang.pdf

Dreams of Summer....

Coniston Playground Association 11.01.2020

Even with everything going on around us right now, we are still cautiously optimistic that we will see some Play Coniston! fun this Summer. If you are interested in registering your children for softball and soccer, please use the link BELOW. (Please Note: We are NOT requiring payment at the present time.) As far as questions surrounding the beginning and length of the season, unfortunately, with the entire situation being as fluid as it is, all that we are able to do right n...ow is re-assess on a gradual basis as time goes on. We will follow the directions given to us by the City, the Province and Public Health. And, hopefully, we will still be able to move forward at some point this summer. In the meantime, as the snow melts and our yards dry up, head out there and have as much fun as you can. And, as always....Stay Safe! We’re all in this together. Hope to see you all this Summer. https://playconiston.ca/registrations/

IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF CITY PLAYGROUNDS AND PARK AMENITIES The City of Greater Sudbury is further reinforcing social (physical) distancing measures supported by Public Health Sudbury & Districts by TEMPORARILY CLOSING ALL PLAYGROUNDS and park amenities, effective immediately. This includes PLAY STRUCTURES, off-leash DOG PARKS, skateboard parks, PLAY FIELDS, SPORTS COURTS and other PARK AMENITIES. The closure of park amenities and playgrounds to the public protects the health an...d safety of residents and staff, and helps limit the potential spread of COVID-19 in the community. These closures also support the recent provincial order to limit public gatherings of more than five people, and addresses numerous concerns brought forward to the municipality by residents about large gatherings in these areas. Open spaces, including the Bell Park Boardwalk, remain open, however residents should be diligently practising proper social (physical) distancing measures at all times. ***We’re all in this together....Please remind anyone you see to stay away from Park Amenities until further notice!*** https://www.greatersudbury.ca//city-playgrounds-and-park-/

During this time of uncertainty in the World and with us all trying to make the best out of social distancing, some of the children in our community (and their parents) want to do what they can to help lift everyone’s spirits and remind you to Keep Smiling and Stay Strong If you or someone you know is also doing this....please add a picture in the comments below ....And as always, Please Share you could be brightening someone’s day ... #stayStrongConiston #KeepSmilingConiston #ConistonProud

We hope this message finds you and your family well.... During this time of uncertainty, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor and adapt to the circumstances surrounding Covid-19. In the spirit of Social Distancing, we will be moving our Registration for Play Coniston onto an online platform in the near future. This will still allow you as a parent to register your children without the necessity of congregating in a small area and will keep... everyone safe. Due to logistical reasons and other potential unknowns, payment will NOT be required at this time. However, prior to the commencement of the Season, everyone who has registered will be contacted to request payment at that time. As far as questions surrounding the beginning and length of the season, unfortunately, with the entire situation being as fluid as it is, all that we are able to do right now is re-assess on a gradual basis as time goes on. We will follow the directions given to us by the City, the Province and Public Health. And, hopefully, we will still be able to move forward at some point this summer. This is definitely difficult for us all. But if we work together as a TEAM, we can halt the spread of this virus and we’ll get through this new abnormal. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to MESSAGE us on this Page. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have.
