Even though life is pretty quiet right now, you may still be exposed to damaging noise levels. How loud is your snow blower, hair dryer, vacuum? You can use your smartphone to find out. In the place where you find your apps search for - dB meter. Different apps are more accurate than others but they will all give you a good ball park of how loud something is. Some good news! One local resident has her vaccine date booked and is looking forward to having meals together again with the other residents and socializing. Bridge games are back on for Feb!

Hearing aids are being lost left, right and centre lately, often from getting tangled in mask ear loops. Did you know that you can turn one into a local hearing centre? The serial number can be used to contact the owner. Hearing aids are expensive and are a necessary means of communication so please lend a hand in reuniting them with their owners.

It's that time of year again! This is our third year collecting items for our Seniors living in our local long term care facilities. They really appreciate having a little surprise to open on Christmas day (they will even more so this year!) In lieu of items monetary donations are also welcome by cash or etransfer. Whoo it's been a while, we've been busy in the clinic! This past month we have been trying out the new paradise hearing aids from Phonak. They are pretty cool. They have motion senors to help you hear better while in motion vs sitting, a tap control so you can use your virtual assistant or to pause streaming. Update: Reopening Connect Hearing Fergus has been going well. We are maintaining our 4 day week and managing appointments with social distancing successfully. It is still unknown at this time when house calls and on location servicing will resume. It may be quite awhile (Oct/Nov) so you may want to arrange a carpool to come into the Fergus clinic for servicing or send someone down with your hearing aids, we also have a few other creative ideas to get you the help that you need. As always, we are available to assist you over the phone, maybe even video chat and of course we can mail you supplies.
