Open letter to Albertans from the Alberta Seniors & Community Housing Association (ASCHA): "Since the initial measures that were implemented back in March at the onset of the pandemic, our front-line workers in seniors housing and care have implemented rigorous measures to keep our most vulnerable safe, in the settings they choose to call home. These workers are not just homecare, health care aides and nursing staff, but also those that provide life enrichment, nutritious me...als, housekeeping services, and day-to-day operations of Alberta’s active and lively seniors communities. These teams are the superheroes of the pandemic. They are the ones that are focusing on supporting the social, mental, and health needs of their residents, including preventive measures. These are essential services that build a protective wall around seniors. See more

Blessed Sacrament Students in the Grade 12 Religion 35 class usually go to the Bissell Centre in Edmonton around this time of year to give back to people in need with a community volunteering act. But this year they were unable to do that thanks to COVID-19. Instead, they chose to stay local and do something for the residents at Points West Living in Wainwright. The students put together packages of Christmas gifts for the seniors, which they delivered on Tuesday, December 1. Thanks to support from sponsors GreenBelt Farms, Norris Ford, No Frills, Racks Oilfield, Randy and Judy Stafford, Stalco Insurance, Darlene and Joe Rinas with Toil Enterprises, the students were able to assemble dozens of packages for the local seniors.
