NLC is back with a special presentation! Animal Farm: An alternate view of pandemics... Thurs, June 18 at 7:30 PM via Zoom - Save the date! We’re delighted to present Animal Farm: An alternate view of pandemics on Thursday, June 18th at 7:30 PM EST. Instructions for attending this free online presentation will follow closer to the date. Our speaker will be University of Guelph Professor Emeritus David Waltner-Toews, a renowned Canadian veterinary epidemiologist who specializes in the diseases humans acquire from animals. Dr. Waltner-Toews is also the entertaining and engaging author of seven collections of poetry, two books of fiction, several textbooks on ecosystem approaches to health, and six popular science books with titles such as Origin of Feces, Food, Sex and Salmonella, and the just released On Pandemics: Deadly Diseases from Bubonic Plague to Coronavirus. This book is included on the Globe & Mail’s spring 2020 best new reads list and will be available May 28th. Order your copy from Furby House Books in Port Hope. We’ll be in touch soon with simple instructions for registering and viewing the presentation. NLC has been actively working on our upcoming programming for this year. The Board and Program Committee have been exploring options for a continuation of our valued programming. We are exploring an online program in June that will offered free of charge on the Zoom platform. Stay tuned for emails and information about the date and the presenter.
