Pour ne pas oublier les femmes et filles algonquines disparues. Le Conseil tribal de la nation algonquine anishinabeg a dévoilé le 5 février dernier un des deux panneaux électroniques destinés à rappeler à la population, autochtone et non-autochtone, la disparition de femmes et de filles algonquines au cours des dernières années. Un second panneau est installé à Pikogan. Le panneau rappelle la disparition de Maisy Odjick et Shannon Alexander, de Kitigan Zibi, et celle de Sind...y Ruperthouse, de Pikogan. La Grand chef Verna Polson a remis aux membres des deux familles éprouvées par la perte d'un des leurs une couverture réalisée par une membre de la communauté de Lac Simon, Mme Mani Papatie-Dumont. La couverture symbolise la protection et la chaleur humaine que la nation souhaitait transmettre aux membres des familles des disparues. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- To keep the memories of missing Algonquin women and girls alive. The Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council unveiled one of two electronic signs on February 5 in Kitigan Zibi to remind the population, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, of the disappearance of Algonquin women and girls in recent years. A second panel was installed in Pikogan. The panel recalls the disappearance of Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander from Kitigan Zibi, and that of Sindy Ruperthouse from Pikogan. Grand Chief Verna Polson gave members of the two families affected by the loss of one of theirs a blanket made by a member of the Lac Simon community, Ms. Mani Papatie-Dumont. The blanket symbolizes the protection and the warmth that the nation wanted to transmit to the members of the families.
