Constructing Futures 31.03.2021

Of the 85 professionals who have successfully completed our program so far, ~40% have received job offers from their work experience employer after the work experience period ends. Although there is zero obligation for employers to retain candidates (because there is already so much value in the work experience period itself!), the reality that ~40% offer ongoing employment speaks to: the high caliber of professionals who enter our program,... the amazing employers who partner with us and recognize the value foreign-trained professionals add to their businesses, the quality of the training Constructing Futures participants receive in our program, the proven effectiveness of work experience placements in supporting professionals in building their careers. Want to learn more about Constructing Futures? Go to our page to find out more! We are currently accepting applications for our July 2020 cohort. (Also, comment on or share this post to get your name entered in our social media contest! The winner of the $25 gift card will be drawn on May 29th) #newcomers #projectmanagement #alberta #jobseekers

As an immigrant professional building your career in Canada, what are the benefits of participating in a bridging program? In this video (filmed & edited entirely by them! #kudos), Benard, William, and Parvin share their reasons why - and the key lessons they've learned during the past 4 months of being a part of Constructing Futures. At the end of January, these professionals (and others graduating from our program) will be searching for ongoing work in their field. We can't wait to see which companies are lucky enough to have this talent join their team! #talentalert #edmonton #hiringmanagers

Attention Edmonton-area organizations: #workexperience #partnership #opportunity Meet William Oshomah - one of the professionals in our #projectmanagement program, available for a 10-week unpaid work experience. With a Master’s degree in Internetworking and numerous certifications (PMP, PSM, PSPO, ITIL), William specializes in #informationtechnology, #agile, and #cloudbasedsolutions.... Having managed projects in N. America and Africa, William considers his greatest strengths to be risk management, time management, creativity, and determination. He is passionate about delivering projects on time and within budget, grinding out results in whatever situation. He says, I have a good sense of humor, but am very dedicated. Whatever I set my heart on, I must achieve. In his career, he is especially proud of his strategic intervention to recover 2 large-scale troubled projects that were 3 years behind schedule. He coordinated a team that successfully drove these projects to closure by developing a recovery strategy, renegotiating, and redefining project budget and scope. His ‘dream job’ is to be a part of a PMO (Project Management Office) here in Canada. Email [email protected] to learn about the work experience opportunity and the chance to have William join your team!

Constructing Futures 01.02.2021

"It's too hard. I don't have time. I'm afraid. I don't have what it takes. It's not fair. I don't know what to do. It's _____ fault. If only..." It's easy to get stuck in thoughts like these, especially as #jobseekers. Unfortunately, when we dwell on our challenges, worries, or 'failures', we experience increasing levels of frustration, hopelessness, and self-doubt. We blame others, criticize ourselves, and complain about our circumstances. Achieving our goals feels more and ...more impossible, and we're tempted to give up. Last week, our Constructing Futures participants courageously chose to hand in the 'excuse cards' that limit them from achieving their goals. They chose to shift their perspective towards what they CAN do and what they DO have as they take the next step in building their careers in #projectmanagement (during a global pandemic!). Perseverance. Consistency. Resilience. Courage. Adaptability. Gratitude. Ownership. These are the qualities of #successfulpeople. Will you join our program participants in saying 'no' to excuses that are limiting your progress today?
