It's finally here! The first video in our video series "A new perspective" featuring songs from The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown. We are incredibly fortunate to have teamed up with incredible artists Julia Kennific, Sarah Kulaga-Yoskovitz, Maria Jimenez, Nicole Arrage and Kyanna Mondezie to put this together. This project, led by Director Debbie Friedmann and Musical Director Eric Elliot Lee, aims to explore how stories change when you break the heteronormative and ...historically very white casting of the production. We invite you to learn more here: https://www.contacttheatre.ca/last5years! Otherwise, enjoy the talents of these amazing artists below!

Happy Monday everyone! In these difficult times, we love turning to musicals to uplift our spirits and envelop us into a world that is free of worries. Right now we are ALL about Jason Robert Brown's The Last 5 Years. There are so many beautiful takes of this piece from stages across the world and the big screen and so many wonderful performers who have taken on these roles. As such, we have 2 questions for you: 1. Who are your favourite Jamie and Cathy performers that you've... heard or seen? 2. Who are your DREAM Jamie and Cathy performers that you would love to see take on the role? Comment directly below! Ps - we may have a little surprise up our sleeve

Last month, we hosted an online dance workshop to share some of the choreography from our last show Chicago The Musical that never made it to the stage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were overwhemled by the support and excitement of the participants and thrilled to get our #Fosse on. We asked participants to share a video of themselves doing the choreography so we can share it all with you! We even have some never before seen rehearsal video of our amazing Roxie, Oc Williams, to kick us off. But we warn you, after watching this video the only name on your lips is gonna be.... https://vimeo.com/464022630

Today we sent an email to a group of Administrators at Dawson College urging them to take action and remove Winston Sutton as a teacher in their theatre department. This coming from numerous allegations of emotional and sexual abuse and harassment from past students and a lack of action on their part. Theatre should be a safe space where performers and crew are encouraged to be vulnerable and have trust in the process in order to hone their craft. Our hearts go out to any and... all students who have suffered at the hands of this man or of anyone else. Not taking action is not an option. Dawson College we are watching and waiting. Thank you Kayleigh Choiniere for putting together a draft letter from which our email was adapted. And to Kayleigh as well as, Amber, Mara, Shannon, Irina, Gracie, Gabriela, and all the people who experienced abuse. We hear you. We stand with you. You are not alone.
