Earlier this year, I signed to have my artwork represented here in the Lower Mainland of BC, Canada by Van Dop Gallery and would like to share my sincere gratitude and appreciation for gallery owner, Trudy Van Top. On a professional note, Trudy has allowed me time to focus on my public art project, teaching classes online, and making art while her team have been there to facilitate sales and represent my work in three separate art shows in the past six months. On a persona...l note, she heard that my daughter Ruth is passionate about sewing, and generously gifted her a beautiful collection of vintage Vogue patterns. Trudy is kind, thoughtful, and goes the extra mile for her artists. I am honoured to be amongst them! You can find a selection of my artwork at Van Dop Gallery at the Van Dop Gallery located at 421 Richmond Street New Westminster, BC, Canada V3L4C4. Student Success Story! Artist: Belinda McNiece Featured Painting ‘Entropy’ 9" x12 Mixed Media on canvas IG @bmcneice.art... FB Belinda McNiece I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work with master landscape artist, Belinda McNiece, and share with you here one of her first abstract mixed media paintings she created after completed after completing my Foundation Abstract Painting and Advanced Mixed Media Abstract Painting Workshops. Belinda created many pieces and continues to explore mixed media abstract acrylic painting as well as her own foundational practice in landscape oil painting. Recently, Belinda received Associate Signature Status with the Federation of Canadian Artist and having her first solo art show this December for 2 weeks from the 1st to the 14th at #105 - 1551 Johnston Street on Granville island, Vancouver, Canada. The exhibit will be open to the public Monday through Sunday 9:30 am to 4 pm PST. I am an oil painter so for me [learning abstract mixed media painting] was a learning curve. Acrylic and Mixed Media is a whole other language and Deb is an amazing teacher full of knowledge and creative ideas. She inspired me with her enthusiasm and love for abstracts! I can’t get enough and I’m looking forward to the next level that Deb can take me too. - Belinda McNiece Belinda, even though you went out of your comfort zone, you kept it at - and that perseverance is often just what it takes. Congratulations on all your paintings, your show, all your successes and many more to come!

Every new abstract painting is an opportunity to explore in the physical of mark making process; the coalescing of shapes and gestures. Every time we create art it is also an opportunity to go inward and learn something new about ourselves. For me, the play of different colours, textures and various techniques onto paper is magic and exciting, every time. And the vulnerability never seems to go away. . . ... Will the painting work out? Will it come together? What will it become? In abstract painting, you NEVER know how the painting is going to evolve and what it is going to become. Every abstract painting is a journey into the unknown and an opportunity to create, to focus, to be challenged and to sometimes be victorious at the end with a beautiful outcome, and at other times, be grateful for the practice and learning that came from a perceived ‘failure’ that taught me everything I needed that day. I am grateful to be an abstract painter with acrylics. It’s been 20 years now and I am still excited and challenged with every painting I get to create. #abstract #contemporaryart #instaartwork #artist #artistic #natureisbeautiful #acrylics #acrylicpainting #artgallery #artistsoninstagram #abstractpainting #contemporarypainting #artiststudio #featuredartist #featureart #featuredartist #artwork #artworkforsale #artconsultant #artmagazine #artdealer #artadvisor #artworkfeatures #worldartist #artists_4_feature #artistoftheday #artoftheday #womanartist #femaleartist #modernart #textureart #mixedmediaart

Remembering back to the passion and love that went into creating these muti-layered 9" x 12" Mixed Media 'Yoga Girl Paintings' on wood Panel. Modeling paste, heavy body acrylics, resin, reverse transfer process, collage elements, artist quality pencil crayons and an electric sander were a few of the ingredients that went into these paintings. Each layer was applied, had to dry 12 - 24 hrs, and then sanded down integrating into the previous layer to be ready for the applicat...ion of the next layer. The ground for each painting was 2-4 layers. The Yoga Girl silhouettes reverse transfer process came last! Type 'Me' in the comments if you would LOVE to learn how to create layered mixed media paintings like these! #yoga #meditation #yogi #namaste #yogalife #yogalove #yogainspiration #mindfulness #yogaeverywhere #yogagirl #yogaeveryday #meditate #yogini #yogapose #yogaart #yogapaintings #mixedmediaart #mixedmedia

Last weekend, I FINALLY crossed over into the digital world, teaching my first online workshop, here on the Internet. (!!!) Thank you to all the enthusiastic and inspired students that joined me from as far away as Florida, New York, California and a good handful of new friends here in Vancouver, Canada. Thank you to my artist mentor @MeetaDani for the coaching, help and supporting to show me how to do this and make it happen! I am beyond thrilled and grateful for everyth...ing I have learned from you. Together, online, we got creatively empowered and learned the fundamentals of abstract painting via zoom conference call classroom. The overhead video co-operated, lighting worked out, digital handouts delivered, and a few other hi-cups were handled with compassion and understanding as I learned my way through this new process. Slowly but surely, we found our rhythm with sharing, art making, and learning together! Things have changed all over the world with covid 2019, and we all are changing along with it. I am grateful to find ways to continue to share my passion and keep moving forward. Here’s the positive spin on our new era of online learning. . . A Few Benefits of taking an Online Workshop: - you can learn from anywhere - learn from the comfort of your own home - stay in your pyjamas - watch the reply, unlimited repeat view of lessons - take it on your own time - meet new friends world wide ! - classes are not time bound, you can watch them at anytime - receive support and momentum from group ! - no travel, no hotel costs - lower price than an in-person workshop - cost effective. - work at your own pace - front row seating ! Are you struggling with feelings of inadequacy around your artistic career? I received a heartfelt, real, and vulnerable Email from an artist last week sharing that although she was experiencing quite a lot of success on the outside with her art career - painting sales, quitting her day job, and selling her artwork regularly - she still felt inadequate and was struggling to feel good about her practice. For the sake of this post, I will call her Beth. This post is for Beth ...Continue reading
