Happy Thanksgiving everyone have a happy and safe weekend!

COPE Local 103 02.01.2021

This week and next week, and even for the weeks to come Early Child Care Educators and Teachers across the country will go into early learning and child care centres and preschools where they will interact with children of essential workers who could be exposed to COVID-19. They won't get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the children... in their care don't know how scared they are; Scared for those children. Scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Thank you to all Educators, Teachers and anyone else heading into an early learning centre and preschool to keep it running so that our amazing healthcare workers and caregivers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and services can continue. You too are heroes! *Copy & paste to show appreciation for all Early Childhood Educators, Teachers & Support Staff continuing their duties at this time* This is a huge concern for Early childhood educators and all those working in early learning centres. Its so hard to keep 18month olds - 4 years separate from one another. It’s a lot harder for children at this age to prevent this virus spread as at this age group they touch everything and put lots of items/objects in their mouth, on other children, or other objects. It’s concerning with all these new protocols and regulations with limited time through out the day to even complete it, when before it was already hard to complete the multitude of stuff needing to be done by the educators. The staff was already over worked, and will be over worked even more with the same low pay with higher risk of burnout, contracting the virus, and less likely chance of being paid sick leave if they do contract the virus. Just please be kind to one another
