Ok I broke down and ordered more Cable Fable fabric. I wasn’t going to, I really wanted to move on from it, BUT I am going to be honest it has been hard to source fabric with lockdown after lockdown. The last time I was able to get to my reps office was July. So... I thought why stress myself out, this is a gorgeous fabric. Every small business owner has that story, you know, the one where they almost gave up. Mine is; I was still working in the restaurant industry to support Copious, I was exhausted all the time from working 18-20 hour days and I continually asked my mother if I should stop. I was so deep into Copious I thought I’ll just keep going and maybe it will never succeed, I needed someone outside of it to tell me when to pull the plug. Thankfully with a lot of support from my circ...le I got to see what was on the other side. The moment I felt a shift was when I designed the Alice Sweater. It was the first product that there was a demand for and with some money coming in, I could breath. I quit working at the restaurant (but kept freelancing as a seamstress) and a year later I took part in my first OOAK Show and that changed the trajectory of Copious. I got a circle of designers who I could bounce ideas off of, they straight up told me wasn’t valuing my time or products and had to charge more and they gave me a community. I had been in it alone for so long it was nice to have this group of people who had all been through exactly what I had. Today I wanted to hear about your DON’T GIVE UP STORY. When was the moment you became more steady in your company, when was the moment you knew you were on the other side. Past THREADED pieces are majorly on sale, including one of my favourites. This sweater had rust stains on the shoulder and was considered garbage, but as we all know clothing is not garbage. This Collection will always mean so much to me because it is helping to save garments from the landfill.
