The Club always strives to maintain a good working relationship with city management. The CITY of COQUITLAM owns & maintains the facility, & for 30 years the Club has enjoyed playing our game at one of the best designed & best maintained lawn bowling facilities anywhere - a sparkling jewel in the city's crown. It was our pleasure to host a group of senior city managers from the Parks, Recreation & Culture departments so they could gain an appreciation of the sport, & have a fun way of saying farewell to General Manager Donnie Rosa , heading to a new career challenge with Vancouver Parks. Everyone had a good time with 2 games of fun bowling, and building good relationships. The next 30 years should be great - (especially when the pandemic ends)
SEPT 19, 2020 - It was touch & go with the weather, but we did it - - held our AGM at the club, outdoors, with social distancing, & great member turnout. Thanks everyone for paying close attention to all the reports, & voting to install our new Executive Committee. This was such an extraordinary season, & it was great to see everyone in-person - - not in a video meeting. Let's hope that a return to NORMAL is not too far off ...
SAFETY TEAM - WIND UP SESSION ... We would not have had a season at all without the hours of work put in by our Safety Team. The Return to Play protocols are very strict, but they allowed our members to get out on the green and stay safe. Cheers to the Club Executive Committee for arranging a Wind Up bowling session for the Safety Team, with a few FUN games, refreshments, & doughnuts. There is no end in sight for the pandemic & we will no doubt need our hard working team again next season. The 2020 season was far from normal, but huge thanks to all for making it happen - without all the hard work we would not have had a season at all. REMEMBER - STAY SAFE & BE KIND
More FUN from the Lego League - with a very nice message - - & some career ideas too !! Enjoy !!
This week the club has moved to PHASE 2 of our Return to Play Guidelines ... a little closer to "NORMAL". Check out the NEWS at the club website. Thanks to everyone, including the City of Coquitlam to make it all happen ... SAFELY !! https://www.coquitlamlawnbowls.club/news
Nice photos taken by Mayor Richard Stewart. Unfortunate that he was wounded by a rose thorn - - but well worth the effort. He says he is now off the critical injuries list - recovering just fine
Week ONE of our 2020 season is in the books, & Week TWO is shaping up nicely. It's so great to be back on the GREEN. Check out the latest NEWS & PHOTOS here ... https://www.coquitlamlawnbowls.club/news
Interesting article from BOWLS CANADA - Biased Bowls blog - good info about adapting to pandemic restrictions ... https://biasedbowls.ca///how-are-the-canadian-clubs-doing/
June 29 - first day of bowling for the 2020 season. It was a gorgeous sunny day for members to enjoy their practice games of Pairs & Cutthroat. Three more bowling sessions to go this week - woo hoo !!
The Club Executive Committee has now completed all the documentation & planning required for our RETURN TO PLAY (RTP). Starting June 29 there will be 4 bowling sessions per week, & all will strictly follow RTP Guidelines. There are many new & different procedures to adapt to. Good bowling to all ... & welcome back to all members. Everyone wants to BOWL Everyone needs to be SAFE
JUNE 15 - the city has opened many facilities, including the lawn bowling club. We have our comprehensive RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES approved & in place ... so now we have to get ourselves organized for some bowling. Thank you BOWLS CANADA, BOWLS BC, & Via SPORT for working so hard & helping us to get to this point. We should soon be on the green, staying healthy & having some much needed recreation & fun. Woo Hoo !!
