Since 2016, Wilfrid Laurier University has seen an increase of over 100 per cent in graduate school applications for various programs nearly doubling interest in the graduate and postgraduate departments at the school.

In a report titled Initial Analysis of Socio-Demographic Indicators for COVID-19 Cases released by the Region of Waterloo Public Health in Nov. 2020, local data suggested that COVID-19 has had a significant disproportionate impact on individuals who identify as a visible minority, as Black, who have a before-tax income of less than $50,000 and whose first language is not English or French.

There were 46 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Waterloo Region on Tuesday, with one virus-related death.

Early in February, an overnight fire broke out at the Inn of Waterloo that displaced 130 men who were using the inn as a temporary shelter through House of Friendship.

It has been a massive adjustment for student-athletes across all sports this past year. With university competition absent, student-athletes have had to tweak their routines and get accustomed to restrictions that have eliminated the opportunity to practice or play.

The announcement made in mid-October to cancel the OUA season was surely disappointing but also much expected. Both Coach Faulds who runs the men’s football team and Coach Serresse who heads the men’s basketball team had themselves and their players mentally prepared for the cancellation and the teams have benefited greatly, making the most out of their phased return to training.
