As we approach the one year mark of our lives being moved online, you're probably all too familiar with "Zoom fatigue". While video calls allow us to stay connected while remaining apart, the design of these apps are having a very real physiological effect on us https://www.ctvnews.ca//feeling-exhausted-after-video-chat

Do you ever wake up, get out of bed, and immediately get hit with pain in your neck or back? You're not just getting old - poor alignment could be to blame. Changing how you sleep can help you feel well rested and wake up ready to seize the day! #TuesdayTip

Stretching allows us to increase our muscle flexibility and blood flow, which makes it an important part of the exercise process. But is it better to stretch before or after exercise? https://bit.ly/2YDNP08

Did you know that you can achieve a similar heart rate increase from a home workout compared to jogging or cycling? With some creativity, commitment, and competition with your family, you can have fun and stay active at home! https://bit.ly/3uAq34f

ATTENTION IWK Health Centre and Nova Scotia Health STAFF!! We are very excited to announce that our IWK satellite clinic is open and has been revived! Krista Stultz, safety consultant with Occupational Health Safety & Wellness, is the reason physiotherapy services are available onsite at the University campus for IWK Health Centre and Nova Scotia Health staff. (This clinic services IWK and NSHA staff only) When the clinic was threatened with permanent closure due to COVID-1...9, Krista stepped up to the plate and worked with Lifemark to keep it going. We have welcomed two fantastic physiotherapists at the clinic. Shara Quinn is in clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30am-2:00pm and Jessica Daigle is providing evening coverage on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-7:30pm. The hours provide staff with flexible options and is an attempt to ensure services are available to all employees, explains Stultz. Quinn has been practicing as a physiotherapist since 2012 and has worked with a variety of populations and injuries. She is trained in acupuncture, dry needling, manual therapy and exercise prescription. She uses a hands on approach to ensure muscles are flexible and strong and that they are engaging properly. Quinn has completed post graduate courses in concussion training and has assisted clients in getting them back to things they enjoy. She is passionate about a proactive approach to get ahead of injuries before they occur. I feel the most important tool to give a client is education regarding their injury/condition, Quinn says. and I’m a firm believer that active treatment is the key to a successful recovery. Daigle graduated from Dalhousie University and has been working in the public and private physiotherapy fields. She has experience treating athletes, injured workers as well as neurological injuries. Daigle is an active individual who curls, hikes and runs. She brings her love for activity into her daily practice as a physiotherapist to assist clients in recovery. Her goal is to work with her clients to develop a tailored treatment plan to get them back to what they love to do. The clinic is open to all IWK and Nova Scotia Health Authority employees and services clients injured at work or at home. It provides direct access without a doctor’s referral. To book an appointment, please call 902-252-2600 and ask to book with Shara Quinn or Jessica Daigle at the IWK site!
