What does a healthy relationship look like? How do I create healthy attachments with people? Why do I keep falling into the same unhealthy relationships time an...d time again? Why do I keep repeating the same mistakes over and over? What am I going to do with the rest of my life? I work with many teens and young adults helping to uncover whats holding them back. Is it relationship difficulties, negative self image, or setting appropriate boundaries? My goal is to create a safe non judgmental environment, where young people can feel comfortable discovering the best version of themselves! Sometimes it is uncomfortable or even scary talking to a stranger about our personal information, especially if you are unsure what to expect. I am a genuinely compassionate person who has lived through many of the same issues that those of you reading this may have gone through or have been watching a loved one go through. Mental health is just as important as our physical health. Without each, we cannot function to our full potential! I often tell my new clients to call me ...before our appointment so that most of the unknown and nerves can be dissipated a bit. I can guarantee that you will feel even a little better walking out of my office rather than first walking in. I strongly think talking to someone who gets it is very helpful. I also think seeing a therapist or a doctor is great as well. I am here if you are on a waiting list to see a therapist, can not afford one, or are looking to take baby steps first before seeing a therapist. Peer support is what I do best. Contact me if you have any questions. Kristy Coreau Core Mental Health www.corementalhealth.org [email protected] 204-233-6304

Thank you Winnipeg!! One year ago today I opened the doors to Core Mental Health Support and Education. I wanted to give Winnipeggers choices and options when it came to their mental health care. It was extremely frustrating to see some folks waiting upwards of a year to get in to see a professional. Some individuals dont have insurance and cannot afford to pay to see a professional. Does this mean they are not worthy of help? I couldnt stand by without trying to do my part. I am here to give folks another option. NO ONE should ever have to suffer alone and no one should ever have to suffer because help was not available to them. Peer Support is another way to find recovery. 204-233-6304 www.corementalhealth.org

Are you on a waiting list to see therapist or cannot afford one? No insurance through work, or are you looking for some additional support? What now??? PEER SUPPORT Counselling. I will be there for you and your family, whether you need one on one counselling, help navigating the health care system, or simply could use some tips and tricks while you are waiting to get in to see a doctor.... If you had an ear ache, waiting to see someone wouldnt be an option, so why is our mental health any different? 204-233-6304 www.corementalhealth.org

This is me! My name is Kristy and I created Core Mental Health. My sole goal is to give the community options when dealing with their mental health. I work with folks on an individual basis, focusing on recovery. I understand how hard it is to navigate the system and how difficult it is to find consistent and compassionate support. I also understand how scary anxiety and depression can be, so I work with individuals on reducing their worries and fears, using CBT and exposur...e. I am constantly educating myself and keeping updated on mental health and recovery but the best education however was not what I learned in a book, it was my own life experience with panic disorder. I have learned the tools to become mentally healthy and I want to educate and help others to do so as well. I understand what it is like to not feel okay! www.corementalhealth.org 204-233-6304

Commonly asked questions: 1. Do you charge for your service? Yes I charge $55.00/hour. I also work on a sliding scale fee based on income. 2. Are you a Psychologist? No I am not a Psychologist or doctor, I am a "peer support" coach with a great deal of training in cognitive behavioural therapy and mental health issues.... 3. What can I expect when I come and see you? We will schedule an appointment and work together on what recovery looks like for you. Using the CBT principals I will help you understand what anxiety looks like and how it can affect our bodies, techniques such as exposure, thinking patterns, mindfulness, and breathing are just some of the ways to help you get back on your feet. 4. What makes you different from a not for profit mental health service. The biggest difference and the reason I started Core Mental Health was to reach people that were otherwise falling through the cracks. I help individuals with not only anxiety but with whatever they present to me. I believe in helping the person, and I am able to do it well because of my passion, personal experience as well as my training. I will walk this journey with you and be a great support. If I cannot help you, I will work hard to find someone that can.

Peer Support is great! Make this year a time for change, a time to open up, and a time to smile again! Lets do this together. My name is Kristy and I am the founder of Core Mental Health and I have first hand experience with anxiety and depression and I also know how crippling it can be. Let me share with you the tools I have used in my own life and the tools I have shared with many to create the best version of YOU!!! Dont let anxiety and depression take over your life. ...Hope and recovery is literally around the corner. Kristy Coreau Core Mental Health www.corementalhealth.org 204-233-6304 See more

This amazing young women is going to do great things! Im so extremely proud of what she is doing and how far she has come!! My mom and I are going to start a campaign called #JustAsk; , it is to bring awareness to mental health. Most times peers, teachers, friends etc. like to assume things about us when we miss school or are having a bad day. I want the #JustAsk; campaign to break the silence of assumption and start asking people how they are doing. I am hoping this campa...ign gets a lot of attention because i want to be able to help others who are struggling and start to get the conversation going. Mental health is something I will always be passionate about bringing more awareness to the world and something I hold close to my heart. Ive struggled with mental health issues since I was 13 years old and if someone would of just stopped for a second and asked me how i was, it would of made a difference. I had a lot of rumours made about me in school by peers and my teachers didnt understand me or even try to get to understand me. Also if any of you could share to start this going it would be much appreciated!

Anxious Child? As early as kindergarten children can learn to cope with anxiety. Parents can play a huge role in helping the situation get better. 1. Explain to the child that his or her feelings are caused by a condition called anxiety. Get your child (if they wish) to give it a name or even a colour, This will help your child to put a name to the feeling, and this will help you as a parent to better understand when and where your child is getting anxious. ... 2. Teach your child how to slowly breathe through the diaphragm. 3. Encourage your child to replace anxious thoughts with more helpful realistic thoughts. You can help your child immensely by modeling this yourself. Remember you are your childs biggest role model! www.corementalhealth.org #anxiety #depression #kids #counselling #peersupport #mentalhealth
