Looking for the perfect Christmas gift for your Bingo-Bubble-Buddy? Get them a Bingo Gift Certificate! Just buy one for whatever size booklet they play along with the $15 Special Games bundle and you're all set!
Bingo will be restarting on Wednesday, 7 October! FROM 6:30-7:00PM WE WILL ONLY BE ADMITTING OUR REGULAR PLAYERS (players who were there during the last month before we closed in mid-March). General admission will start at 7:00pm. You are to stay home if you have flu-like symptoms or are supposed to be in self-isolation. In accordance with provincial COVID Alert Level 2 guidelines, we are doing the following:... -the entrance will be at the side of the building, through the door next to the washrooms. -players must sign a contact list with their name and phone number. This list is kept for 14 days in case required by Public Health for contact tracing. -everyone must wear a mask when inside the building, except when seated at your table. -there will be hand sanitizer at the entrance, at each table, at the canteen, and in the washrooms. -seating will be limited to 64 players. ***UPDATED*** There will be 5 chairs to a table. Tables and chairs are not to be rearranged. -there will be no card games while waiting for bingo to start. -once we’ve seated 64 players, no one else will be admitted and bingo will start. -there will be no saving seats. Any seat that does not have paid cards at it is available. -to minimize the handling of cash and to speed up entry into the building, all cards and tickets will be sold at the main table. Special games and tickets will be sold as a $15 bundle, containing the following: one 9-up Picture Frame card, one 9-up Starburst card, one 9-up Letter H card, one 9-up Letter T card, two 3-up 50/50 Black cards, one Loonie number entry, and three 50/50 tickets. -additional special game cards and tickets can be purchased from bingo workers during the first two games. -if you have a winning Nevada ticket, you are to tear off all the tabs and show it to a bingo worker. Once the worker has confirmed the payout, you are to tear the ticket in half, after which you will receive your winnings. -the canteen will be open. No outside food or beverages are permitted to be brought into the building. We will not be handing out glasses of water. Food and beverages purchased at the canteen should not be shared with others. Only one person at the canteen at a time. Others must wait in line, 6 feet apart. This will certainly be different, but it’s what we must do to try and keep everyone safe at this time. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU BACK!
Just a reminder that we still collect pennies! If you’ve been cleaning up your house lately and come across any, we’ll gladly take them off your hands. That’s exactly what happened for Marion Hutchings, who thought of us when she came across these recently. Your donation is so appreciated and all the pennies we collect are deposited and transferred to our national charity, The Elks & Royal Purple Fund for Children, where they help out so many children. They couldn’t do what they do without your assistance!
Unfortunately, we will not be resuming Bingo or accepting any new bookings under the current guidelines for COVID-19 Alert Level 2. We will reassess things in September, or sooner if Public Health guidelines change. But as it stands right now, with limitations on numbers, along with all the required safeguards and precautions, it’s just not viable or practical for us to open to the public. As always, we appreciate your support and hope to see you again sometime soon.... Corner Brook Elks Lodge #505
Tonight we did a socially distanced draw for our Mother’s Day (which changed into Father’s Day) fundraiser. Doing the draw was Bernice Buckle, with the assistance of Acting Exalted Ruler Alfred Ford. 2nd prize of 5 dozen beer went to Doreen Churchill (ticket 1091). 1st prize of 12 lobsters and 12 steaks went to Mary Lasaga (ticket 510). Congratulations to you both! Thanks to everyone who supported us by buying tickets and those who helped in selling tickets during these challenging few months. Hope to see you all soon!
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our Exalted Ruler, Brother Maxwell George Crossley at his beloved cabin yesterday, 25 April. Bro. Max was a true and loyal Elk, both as a member and leader in our Lodge. Our condolences to his family and many friends. We shall meet, but we shall miss him.... There will be a vacant chair; And though we no more possess him, Still our hearts his memory bear. But a while ago we gathered, Friendship beaming in each eye; Now the golden cord is severed, He has passed to Realms on High. https://www.country-haven.ca/obituary/maxwell-crossley
