On a recent call with a prospective customer, they asked me to summarize who Cornerstone is and what we do. Having spent 15+ years in operations, I had heard many sales people answer this question by listing our services one by one. I really wanted the prospective customer to understand what we really do for our customers. Having sat with the people who actually deliver the service at Cornerstone, I shared the following: Customers call us because we do the work that our cus...tomers do not have the time to do. We track vessels and trains. We check the ports for availability at least twice daily. We contact the SS lines and find out what holds are, and quickly send that to our customers so they can fix them. Whenever possible we outlay terminal fees and demurrage. We call for a delivery appointment every single time, and we confirm deliver to addresses. Simply put, when a customer dispatches a shipment to us, we take ownership of the shipment immediately and keep it until the shipment is delivered. To some transportation companies, a file is an order that needs to be executed. To Cornerstone, every file is an opportunity to prove ourselves and we take that responsibility seriously.
