Cornerstone Preschool Inclement Weather Update - Feb 16th, 2021 Dear Cornerstone Preschool Families, Due to inclement weather and both the school boards being closed in Hamilton, Cornerstone Preschool will be closed today. ... The following warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the Hamilton region: "Winter storm continues this morning. Heavy snow is expected to continue this morning. Total snowfall amounts of 25 to 35 centimeters are expected before snow tapers off early this afternoon . Northeast winds gusting near 50 km/h will result in very poor visibility in blowing snow. Even higher amounts of snow may be possible, up to 40 centimeters, in some locations due to extra moisture coming off Lake Ontario. Locally higher amounts may also occur on the higher elevations of the escarpment. Local blowing snow may persist until this afternoon". Please stay indoors as much as you can and stay safe! COVID 19 Update February 12, 2021 Dear Families, Hope you all are keeping healthy and safe,... Here are the latest guidelines provided to us by the City of Hamilton/Child Care Centre Operations. MASKING REQUIREMENTS: In Order to obtain consistency across all child care settings and to ensure alignment with the local school board masking policies, all child care settings must observe the following, regardless of whether the program is in a school or other facility. CHILDREN 2-3.8 YEARS: Children between the ages of 2 and 3.8 years are encouraged to also wear a mask however this remains at the parent’s discretion. Child care operators should provide communication to all parents and caregivers advising them of this recommendation. CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS: Masks are not recommended for children under the age of two. PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS: *Parents/caregivers are required to wear a face covering or non-medical mask when dropping off or picking up their child(ren) regardless of whether this takes place indoors or outdoors. *Parents/caregivers do not go past the screening area, unless necessary. *As much as possible, parents should not enter the premises.

Dear Families, Hope you all are keeping healthy and safe, Here are the latest guidelines provided to us by Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the Region of Hamilton:... Pre-screening by all parents should now take place daily prior to arrival at the childcare center using the online provincial screening tool. All parents are instructed to follow the most up- to-date Ministry of Health screening tool found here (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/). Onsite screening will only take place where it is operationally feasible and if necessary (e.g. screen was not completed prior to arrival). All parents/caregivers should complete the provincial COVID-19 school and childcare screening tool as a Parent/guardian on behalf of a student/child prior to arrival at the childcare center. Entry will be denied to any individual who fails the screening procedure whether it was completed online or in person. Parents are not required any proof of screening done at home. We are basing it on honor system and will go by your word. Also attached is a decision making tool provided by the City of Hamilton, which can help families in making the decision to take children to daycare or not. I would also like to acknowledge your sustained commitment to the health and well-being of Ontario families. Your patience is greatly appreciated, and your ongoing partnership has been crucial during these challenging times. we will keep everyone updated on any further developments.
