Royal Canadian Legion Br 297 just gave our Centre 10,000 reasons to smile this holiday! This morning, they presented Michelle Gosselin, President of the RHSJ He...alth Centre Fund with $10,000 in support of the Lights of Hope Campaign made possible by community donations raised through the local poppy fund! A portion of this donation will help fund equipment for therapeutic use as well as purchase six hygienic slings to help with safe patient transfers. The remainder will help the RHSJ HC Fund purchase something pretty incredible - a jDome BikeAround! This is a therapeutic bicycle that uses Google Street View to take users on a virtual bike tour anywhere they want in the world. Big things are happening here at SJCCC! To date, the LOH campaign has raised over $34,000 in community donations. Ce matin, ils ont remis à Michelle Gosselin, présidente du Fonds du Centre de santé des Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph, 10 000 $ pour appuyer la campagne Lumières d’espoir. Ce don a été possible grâce à la générosité de la communauté pendant la campagne du coquelicot. Une partie de ce don aidera à financer de l’équipement thérapeutique ainsi que six harnais hygiéniques pour faciliter le transfert sécuritaire des patients. Le reste aidera la Fondation à acheter quelque chose d'incroyable : un jDome BikeAround! C’est un outil développé en Suède qui utilise Google Street View pour amener les utilisateurs à faire une visite virtuelle à vélo n’importe où dans le monde. 2020 Poppy Campaign A message from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 297 This year’s poppy campaign will officially begin with the raising of the flag at City Hall and the presentation of the first poppy to the Mayor of Cornwall, on October 30th, 2020.... Please look for our poppy boxes and Legion representatives throughout many locations in Cornwall. There is a Remembrance Day ceremony planned on November 11th, 2020 that will take place at the Cenotaph on Second Street, however there are a few points that should be noted due to current health and safety restrictions. There will be no parade this year and numbers at the cenotaph will be reduced to Legion Officials, and 3 Dignitaries. Wreaths will be pre-laid at the cenotaph prior to the ceremony by the Legion in order to ensure the safety of members of the public. The Legion is planning to televise the event with the assistance of Cogeco and encourage all those interested to tune in, more details to follow.
